Well, I also comment on photos and it doesn't bother me at all if I don't get acknowledged as commenting. I consider what I say in comments as helpful if its a comment on the technical aspects or vision of the photo. I don't give out mean spirited comments, which are the ones that I feel are useless.

But its funny that you said that I haven't been marking many comments as helpful, b/c I checked off your comment on my current photo as helpful just a few days ago.

reason I came to the site is because I love photography, want to learn more, to improve upon what I'm doing. It's the comments that help you learn, not the score you receive when you enter a challenge.

Entering a challenge is a new discipline and for me well......taking a photo is simple, taking a photo to fit a challenge, that meets the challenge, and is a good photo - that's a whole different/more difficult thing and that is where the comments are so incredibly helpful. They enable the recipient to see their work through other eyes, I sometimes know that there's something not quite right, but can't figure out either what it is, or how to correct it.....

My own goal at the present is a photo taken for a challenge, that meets the challenge that I'm really proud of and if I'm lucky other people will like it too.....I haven't yet accomplished that goal - but I'll keep working at it ......and in the meantime please keep commenting honestly - it really does help - and I'll keep working on building my confidence on making comments on others work
