Well......the one was just a personal validation.....
The first challenge I entered with my new 12-24 garnered me an Honorable Mention 5th place. That means that spending the money was justified, right?
The image in question....
I got the validation request the first day of voting. I was kind of surprised, and *knew* there was no problem since I think it took me longer to upload and fill out the submission page than it did to edit.......
But it's funny how the whole thing just niggles away at the back of your mind, and you feel as if you're sitiing on the edge of your seat 'til they put the validation stamp on it.
So.....the purpose of this thread is for all y'all to pass along whether or not it makes YOU nuts waiting, too! LOL!!!

I got an in-challenge validation request once, on this shot:
Since the use of Topaz or Photomatix was not basic legal at the time, the request did not surprise me. Sent them the original and editing steps. I'm sure they easily duplicated a similar look. The only thing that could have made them DQ it was if SC chose at this point to toss PaintShop Pro's -top secret classified- adjustment into the pool with Topaz. It still had me on pins and needles for about a day.

Never mention the "C" word in public. We don't want to rile the Post Processing Gods now do we?

Unfortunately, the slip-up is immortalized in the quoted response :-)

Only been through it once, I was confident the image was legal until the DQ came down. Seems I had the wrong year set in the camera, I was shocked, mad, sad, and really disappointed. So even though I knew the image was legal stupid things can happen. |

Like you, Jeb, i got the validation request the first day of voting. I sent it off and the more i thought about it the more i convinced myself it was a DQ. I really thought i'd overlooked something. I think i actually posted up in the scoring thread that i was expecting a DQ. Still, it got a validation though and didn't do too bad in the challenge. I am certainly going to check and double check every entry from now on though!!! |

i had a request for validation for this one:
since psuedo hdr with photomatix has been blessed for basic, i wasn't too worried, but i didn't record the exact settings i used for that portion of the processing so i got a little worried. come to think of it, i was pretty uneasy until i received the email saying it was all good. |

I just got a DQ on my not so great shot for the "Enthused" Challenge. I submitted what I thought was the original photo (I guess if you open it in any editing software it's ruined as the original even if you don't touch it?!?!). My question is, I submitted the proof on the first day of voting and just got the DQ today, AFTER the challenge was over. Is this normal? I noticed other DQ's that did not get ranked, however mine was ranked this morning prior to getting the DQ notification. |

ok, this is 'kind of' off topic, but how do you all document your steps for every photo Just In Case? I can often remember, but my lack of PHotoshop skills/knowledge often is nothimg but a bunch of slider tries! YIKES!
just save somewhere with the history or what? |

This EXACT thing happened to me once. *sigh*
Can't argue with total evidence against the contrary.
On the good side, I have a great image to use NEXT year! :)

I think I have been asked for validation about 10-15+ odd times and 4 times DQ'd. One for the bulge tool , once for being a day early (went to England didn't reset date) and once for not having an original and one for using Free Transform and stretching a shot . I have never done the same thing twice though!!!!!!!!!
It sucked each time

my very first challenge entry had a validation request just a couple days into voting...that made for a serious 'holy crap' few days.
after that, the handful of validation requests i've had were no big deal. it helps that i'm pretty incapable of pushing the envelope when it comes to post-processing ;-) |
