Have you all seen this commercial???

How's bout a challenge where objects have to represent a smile or a frown, similar to the ones in the commercial? I'm not sure if a challenge like this has been done before but I think it could be fun... Opinions?

| I know there was a persona type challenge before.. we had to take an object and have it emulate a human emotion.. I think that's what the description was.. It was fun.. I think it's been a long time, maybe time for something similar.. |

I participated in Personification III
Anyway, perhaps personification IV would be cool, especially with the great ideas from the Amex commercial... |

I saw that commercial, have seen it many times actually, and I keep thinking "What a great challenge!"
Personally I'd prefer a challenge that stuck as close as possible to the Amex concept, rather than a broader one like "personification"...

Yeah I have to say that I agree with that... I'm just not sure how you would word it, and as I sit here stuffing my head full of the post Civil War American politics, I can't think of a way to articulate it... :) |

Have we had issues with smiling dead animals in the past?
Regarding the OP, I agree - the commercial is great, and would translate into a fun challenge!

I like the idea of this. But fear too many would try and actually replicate scenes in the commercial. However, a concept twist perhaps, Open Challenges - one 'Personification - Smile' and the other 'Personification Frown'. Both with the stipulation that actual faces - living, dead, human/animal or otherwise represented (as in cartoon or sculptures, etc.) are subject to immediate DQ. In other words, your smile or frown must be the product of some natural/posed alignment/occurrence and NOT the muscles of a living entity, positioning of a non-living entity, or the artistically created representation, in any form, no matter how abstract, of the said subject (smile/frown).

This has already been done since 1995 by Francois Robert in his many books including "Face to Face", "Faces" and "Find a Face" all available on amazon. He has had three exhibitions in Europe as well. Amex was not original in their commercial or prints ads.
