Figures...the 2 civil war links I posted happen to fall on the same weekend that our scouts are having a weekend campout. The Appomattox one looks fun.

It's not until October, but the reenactors at endview plantation said that cedar creek is one of the best.

It poured non-stop from Friday thru Sunday at this year's Cedar Creek reenactment. My daughter was supposed to be a drummer with the 22nd North Carolina Infantry.

This'd be Lt.Col. Ken Snyder, Commanding Officer of the 22nd.....

Reenactments are really something special. The participants go out of their way to accurately represent the period. I like doing the image work in B&W but sometimes, it even translates well in color.

These were from a Civil War parade in Gettysburg in November.

And you get ample opportunity to try your hand at making the people look proper period with your editing....

So if I can get to wherever you guys find one inside of three hours and a little, I'm there! LOL!!!

Well, I don't think this counts as Central VA, but I'm tentatively planning to go up to Harper's Ferry next Saturday (March 20) - if anyone would be interested in that. I'm still a little limited due to the most recent injury to my leg. Doc says I have to keep this $!#$@ brace on another 5 weeks. Though, if I'm up and moving around my knee feels pretty good most of the time. It's when I've been sitting with it bent and then get up that it really still hurts.

maryo - Bloom Watch announced these dates:
Average Peak Bloom Date: April 4
2010 Peak Bloom Date Forecast: April 3 through April 8
2010 Blooming Period: March 31 through April 11

We're going to go ahead with our original date of April 10th though so we do not conflict with Easter weekend. I've posted more about our walk at //www.marcbenton.com/2010/03/early-morning-cherry-blossom-photowalk-2010/

There's another walk scheduled on the evening of April 3rd - //www.meetup.com/dcphotomeetup/calendar/11929120/?from=list&offset=0

I'm now not going to Harper's Ferry until the 27th because I'll be in Richmond on the 20th. Anyone got some recommended places to see?

Change of date for the Early Morning Cherry Blossom Photowalk. We've moved it up to April 3rd since Mother Nature is failing to cooperate with our original date. The blooms have started opening now, three days earlier than expected.
