Have you heard or felt these two reactions before?:
I don't have alot of time to comment on entries in challenges.
I wish I would get more comments on my work.
One small possible solution?
The Above and Below Commenters Club is just one little way to get more people to leave a comment. The main requirement is that you leave at least two comments in EACH AND EVERY challenge you enter (More is of course ALWAYS encouraged but for those who are time strapped or get caught up in other things this could keep you on a regular commenting schedule)
With enough individuals than all together we can leave quite a large number of comments.
What is the Above and Below Commenters Club?
A group of collective individuals (if you be so inclined to join) that takes the time to leave a constructive comment on challenge entries that are just one above and one below where they themselves finish in a challenge. The comment must be a minimum of three full sentences.
For *Most* this little challenge boost could be a nice little addition to your commenting agenda. For others it would be a nice little motivating addition that would result in more comments getting handed out and photos getting a second look:-)
So what do you say? You in?

Heck, I'll bite. Sign me up.
My only minor issue might be when the person adjacent to me in the challenge is someone who I know does not care to receive feedback. They just want to know if they hit their target audience. For the most part, it's a good idea. |

Hmmm, I'm curious ... how do they know if they 'hit their target audience'?

I started with last Sunday's Headware II challenge. And no, you don't have to leave quite a dissertation like I sometimes leave:-)
I am going to make some sort of ribbon or animated stamp that will be rewarded upon reaching 100 (which would mean 50 challenges). Of course this operates under the honor system very much like the 100% comment club.

Same way I do, by the positive comments it receives and voting breakdown. They just don't want detailed critiques explaining to them why something that was intentional is a flaw and how to correct said "flaw". Of course, they get them in-challenge, because we have no way of knowing who they are from. Post challenge, however, is different. |

I'd like to do this, but you may have to post a reminder every now and again. Not that I forget stuff, or anything. |

So we can start now by going back to the last 3 challenges(if we had a pic in it) & leave our comments or start when these current 3 are over? |

sounds fun and useful, count me in :)
how do we post that we have left our two comments or more? for example just this: "I have left my 2 comments in the *** challenge" (and then repost our post every week) or?

Up to 7 DPC'ers! Great!
Got some time to spare from other duties.
Thought about this question and I think the best way to go about it is to post your updates midweek.
Every Wednesday post updates here. That way the commenting will include/occurs after the Sunday and Tuesday rollovers.
Something along the lines of :
Feb. 24, 2010 ---- 2 Challenges (or 1 depending on participation) Comments TTD: 4
* TTD = Total To Date. That TTD number will be additive. So if you posted 4 for this week then do 2 challenges next week that TTD posting will be 8. |

Ah then with this particular individual you can then tell them why you find the interesting upon a deeper second look or why you like it....that is of course assuming you find that the image is appealing and is your cup of tea:-) |

This is a swell idea. Top 10 photographs and brownies usual get enough comments after rollovers.
All other are generally forgotten.
1 question though:
Picture yourself the following situation:
you've already commented in-challenge a photograph which ends up above/below you. In that comment you've expressed every point on the photograph which makes you have nothing more to add.
It's a hypothetical situation but not unthinkable.

I would think if you made a meaninful comment during the challenge that would be enough. Wouldn't it? |

That's what I would think so too Lorrie.
It would be pointless repeating the same thing in other words or to add no matter what, just to make the comment.

I think the "above and below your image" is mostly a convenient mnemonic device -- in the above situation, why not just comment on the next photo beyond the one for which you've already left a comment. That way you'll still be leaving an additional comment ... |
