I'd go the the Flashpoint II M series from Adoroma. Start with one head... and work your way up.

Just remember that you get what you pay for. I started out with an inexpensive Opus lighting kit, but very quickly outgrew it. I switched to AlienBees 800w strobes, plus a bunch of periphery equipment. It's much more suitable.

For outside shoots, you need portable power. Here are AlienBees' portable power kits.

Hey all,

I need a little bit of advice on studio lighting kits I'm considering buying.

I have unearthed these deals:



And then there's all these ones....


I'm quite confused!

Are these 'good' deals? Which one would you go for?

Also, how do you power them on an outside shoot?
