Appropriate timing for the "Brown" challenge this week.

James Brown - the "Godfather of Soul," died early today, Monday morning at age 73.

A great loss to the world.

Actually a self-DQ won't show up. It's your choice to take the low score or self DQ, but the DQ does count towards the total number of DQ's you can get hit with before you start getting suspended from challenges. Basically you are using your first free DQ and then you need to be careful oveer the next so many challenges not to get hit with another.

I thought they did now. Have a look at nico_blue's entry and profile from this challenge. It seems to be a self DQ

I saw that too after the challenge ended. I was told, and my own experience matched what I was told, that self-dq'd shots just disappear from the challenge and don't show up on your entries list. I self DQ'd something a while ago and it's not on my list and it wasn't listed at the bottom of the challenge results either. Maybe it depends on what SC pulls the trigger for you.

I think I'll leave it and hope to make up for the low score over time. It's a hard lesson and thanks for the advice.

Thanks

Just leave it. A DQ shows as an ugly coloured line in your profile. You will easily recover from the poor score on this one.

Just put in another last minute entry. I hope this one does better. I have high hopes. But then again, I always do, and it doesn't always work out!

So, I live in a brown house with dead, brown leaves in the yard, hardwood floors, brown couch, wood book cases, wood trim, wood cabinets, wood bedroom furniture and exposed wooden beams around the fireplace. How is it possible that I am not even a little bit inspired by the subject of this challenge?

I have a shot that I might enter, but I suspect that it will bring down even an average as average as mine.

I do have brown eyes, though. . . . I wonder how long I can stare into my camera lens before I give up. :)

Edit to add: Oh, I also have a brown dog. But, the pet challenge is gone by. :(

Well, you could take off it's little feathers, and then
photograph it. It's sort of pink then. Not very photogenic
though. And it probably wouldn't smile for you.

So, 200 members are getting new gear this week? Cool!

Well, a UPS truck delivered my new 'puter, and it's NOT my entry, though I did take a picture...

Personally, I think it's cheating a bit if there's no reason for the image to be sepia other than to enter this challenge. If there's a good reason, I say go for it.

WOW Cheating is a harsh word for making a sepia conversion ...

LOL, no I don't mean TECHNICALLY cheating, as in breaking DPC rules... I think I'd feel like I was cheating MYSELF if I just took ANY photo and added sepia JUST to meet the challenge and not because it would add anything to the photo. JMHO, of course. :)

I'm in... maybe more typical but I really like it.

Brown ribbon? That might be a good thing here. ;~D

I predict more than one picture of something that looks like a ribbon. Brown, naturally.
