I dunno......personally I like to vote in challenges to see what other points of view people have on what I feel the challenge description states. I'm often surprised and delighted to see how creative some people are in their ideas. I just don't really see any reason to decide to dis an entire challenge as being unworthy. Yeah, some images may not necessarily resonate with me, but that doesn't mean they suck, just that they don't work for me. I've found that my tastes, and understanding, of images has changed and grown, a lot, over the last four years.

Wasn't so long ago that I really sucked across the board. I've managed to find a lot of help and encouragement that enabled me to learn a great deal in a short amount of time. It wasn't from people telling me I sucked, though.....

So you are saying, That Chick, that all of the ones you've said are DNMC are 'out of order'?

That's what not 'order' is, you know.

Please go back and look at your votes and comments.

If you still feel that the low votes you've given are because the subjects are out of order, then so be it.

Somehow I feel I'm still on the corner smoking with the "bad" kids... :)

Me too! This thread is hilarious!

Now I think this is actually a pretty good interpretation of the challenge (and what looks to be good use of a Lensbaby despite what the information included states). But others may consider this a shoehorn of sorts. A lot is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. Then again, I'm not a good one to ask when it comes to interpreting challenges. I'm notoriously bad at it, actually!

Not really wanting to bump this thread again, but if the OP really did score as many a 1 as it seems by her comments, then I suspect those votes may have been scrubbed? Isn't the scrubber supposed to deal with that kind of strange voting pattern? This is a genuine query...

I suspect she voted enough non-one votes to have her votes count.

She also made roughly 30 or so DNMC comments. If she voted one on those and a more average vote on the rest I wonder if her votes would have been scrubbed.

Hmm wondered about that.

Well I know what it definitely is not....

Be sure to send your corrections to all reputable dictionary publishers before they waste paper printing another erroneous edition! ;-)

Earlier on, I went and looked up the dictionary definitions of "order" so I could post some of them here, but I gave up after scrolling past the 50th entry ... :-(

What I found really funny is that my entry actually finished (barely) in the top half of the challenge, scoring a 5.6 (way above my average) ... with a picture set up and taken in about 45 seconds with my 10 year old Olympus camera ... ;-)

Hard to imagine how anything can really be DNMC when you take all of those definitions into account :) I quite liked number 42.

I remember the OP saying people were morons or idiots. Yet left several comments saying "SHOE + HORN = SCORE OF 1" or something like that. I fail to see what separating the word does? I think it was an attempt to be clever but backfired.

Nope...they didn't get scrubbed....I had no votes removed from my entry at all.

I was feeling bad that my flip response about "happy pills" was what had started this. I thought perhaps I owed an apology. Then I looked over the OP's comments on the recently ended challenges, and she really did rip into people in a very undiplomatic way. When I got further back to her earlier comments, they all sounded reasonable.

I enjoyed your flip response... And I loved her retort..

A simple DNMC would be helpful. I mean, help someone out instead of bash them.

True, but most people usually take it as a joke on this site. I dont think there was much you couldnt say to the person to not set them off.

It was meant more in terms of happy voters and unhappy voters, but such nuances don't always carry across in a forum. However, there was obviously a lot more going on that I was unaware of.

I'll try not to perform such an act of slippycide again.

I think part of the problem is that that particular phrase been over-used, and so may have acquired excessive emotional baggage. I'm not all that averse to insults (giving or receiving), but like any art form it can be exercised crudely or with elegant precision.

One of my favorites concerns a Quaker who, upon learning he'd been wronged, told his adversary "I trust thy mother will punish thee, when thou hast returned to thy kennel."

I did the same. The contrast was hilarious from very negative to "Oh beautiful!" comments.

I just went through and read her comments for the Order challenge. What a completely wretched, unpleasant, and mean-spirited young woman. It must suck to live inside her head.

It appears that until this challenge she hadn't made a comment since 10 February 2010...that's a long break between drinks!

Here's what's really strange; I had been looking at her profile yesterday, and it showed (and still shows) that she has entered 12 challenges. As of yesterday, those 12 were the only ones showing on her profile page as well; but NOW, there are 42 challenges in the list that she had entered, despite that her STATS still show 12 as the number...?

Plus, for what it's worth, she seems to have removed her profile portrait and all her portfolio pics...

I can attest to that. How in the world did that happen?
