What am I doing wrong? It tells me I'm not logged in, so I right-click, choose login and it takes me to DPC...where I am already logged in. Now what?

edit: ....and now I'm sitting on DPC, logged in (and posting even), but the widget still say "You are not logged in". ???

Are you at work?
' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Yo_spiff has the same problem :
Open Tools > Error Console.
Clear it. Then click on the extension.
Spiff had this error : www.dpchallenge.com : server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

It seems that it's a problem with the network. I don't know how to handle it right now. I'll work on that tomorrow ...
Please tell me if it's the same problem or if you have another error in the console.

very small thing -- my new vote average is showing up as 7.9998, 4.99997, etc. When it's really 8.0 & 5.0.

Yes, who? (;-)), yes and OK, cool.

editski: To make a long story short, there is a possibility that the SSL/TLS session you are negotiating with a server -- one that you believe to be "imap.ntlworld.com" -- could be compromised such that the data transmitted over that session is not secure.

What can/should you do ? Until the "imap.ntlworld.com" server software is updated to include the recommendations in RFC5746, you have two choices:

1. Proceed with the connection, even though there's a possibility the data you send/receive may not be securely encrypted; or,

2. Terminate the connection.

sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
09/13/2010 08:42:02 PM · #36
I'm liking this a lot! I thought I'd try it out, but I figured I wouldn't end up using it, since I use the update button and enter things into my spreadsheet. But I'm finding it quite sweet! (ok, yes, I'm way too addicted... but I realize that, and that's the first step...)

I wish it would say the number of votes without hovering over the score, though. Then I could grab the info straight from there and enter into my spreadsheet. Something like

skyscape: 5.4118/47

Not any more, and it works just fine. hmmmmm....nice little tool. Is it some sort of persistent connection? Maybe my proxy/firewall at work doesn't like that?

On DPC the score is truncated ... so my recent score average can't be exact.

I'd prefer a customizable display in the status bar, where you could choose between all the current score data.

There is nothing more in this addon that firefox does when you click the original update button.
The only difference is the technic used to do this. It sounds that firefox protects these kind of (cyphered) requests when it's transmitted by a non-secure server.
But ... the update action never use any kind of cypher. The only server wich can force you to open a SSL/TLS session is ... your proxy.
So one of the best solution is : go meet your admin and say "You're proxy is not secure, it does not support RFC 5746 so everyone can access the datas"
Another one is to update firefox, but I don't know if it will change anything.
I'll try to find something about this ... but i'm not sure I can do anything to help.

No worries, it's a neat add-on, and it works just fine from my home PC.

That would be a nice idea :D

Have tried this add-on and think it is great. Although when at my pc I always have a DPC tab open anyway but nonetheless it is nice to leave there and have an "at a glance" update. Thank you

Here is a nice page in the mozilla wiki : https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security:Renegotiation
It explains the details of this security issues (are your admins too lazy to update servers ? ;)

But, but, but !!!
In this page, they explain how to allow firefox to keep communicating with vulnerable servers :
- open about:config in a new tab
- search for security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts
- set the value to www.dpchallenge.com (separate entries with comma)

If I understood this page ... your problem is fixed ! :D

Edit: horrible typo

No, adding the URL to the about:config security.ssl key did not correct the issue from work. However, if I have read all the articles on this correctly, would it not be the dpchallenge.com server that needs to address the CVE-2009-3555 vulnerability? Or is it my proxy that's missing the update?

There is no SSL transmission with DPC, so I don't think this problem comes from DPC's servers (also it's working for almost everybody).
Some proxys (like mine at work) use SSL for all datas in the LAN. For me it's the only possible reason.

There is still two options:
- set security.ssl.allow_unrestricted_renego_everywhere__temporarily_available_pref to true
but : "It's highly recommended to leave this at the default value “false”, and instead populate preference security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts with a list of hosts that require the exception. "

This is the best thing to do before trying the second option. When doing this, you'll know if security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts is the solution.

- second option : it's not www.dpchallenge.com you have to set in security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts but your proxy name.
To know the details of the communication, use the plugin "tamper data", open DPC, open tamper data, start alterate data, then click on update button.
You'll have the full detail of the connection process, and you will have the name of your proxy.

Sorry I don't know yet how to do addons in chrome (I learned for Firefox with my job).
It shouldn't be hard and if someone wants to try it, this code can be used.

... and there's no status bar in chrome ... where do I put my datas?
