It's my understanding that you can self-DQ if you haven't done so in your previous 25 entries. If you do, your entries goes away, *poof*, like it never was. It's just gone--no pink highlight on your profile page. (Of course, to restate a point worth restating, you can only do this once every 25 entries.)

That's correct. Alas, I am clean for only 11 entries so didn't bother trying. Thanks for the suggestion though. Might give it a try anyway :)

Done. I'm taking bets about whether or not it'll happen. My money's on not.

I'm still incredibly peeved about my entry. It's about where it should be.
I entered a bad outtake instead of something that actually used leading lines well. So so stupid. Looked at what I would have entered just there because I've been so angry with myself I couldn't look sooner... very annoyed. Nothing record breaking. But I'd say it'd've gone above my average score no problem.

*sigh* dropped .11 in the last 24 hours. Usually it doesn't drop that much after 150 votes.

It is going to be fun seeing the distribution on this one. Lots of 8s and lots of 4s. What a bizarre ride!

I wonder if street photography is going to be the same type of voting.

Like my "got mile" entry IF this holds I will have a new image on my profile page. Only my "got milk" didn't hold, at the last min there were some low votes. :-( So I hope this one holds.

I'm falling

Avg Vote: 4.8777

I uploaded at the last minute and realized that I exported the wrong photo. Two nearly identical shots and I grabbed the wrong one. Oh well. I'm expecting my street photography one to do even worse.

I'll PM you some info on how I vote, but keep in mind, that is only how I vote. You may have different criteria.

Opens thread. Ctrl F. Types "3." and presses Enter. No matches found. Well, we need to fix that.

It is rare that my top 3 votes go to the eventual ribbon winners. The aim of the game is to reward those photos that you admire, regardless of the eventual outcome. At the end of the day we all have different life experiences, views of art, consideration of the importance of technicals and so on ad infinitum, and it is this mix that combines to give a photo its average vote and ultimate placement. It is a rare photo, indeed, that has such broad appeal that its overall average is above 7.5.

I have only had 2 votes all day. Those happened to be a 7 followed by a generous 2.

Yes, but it's been a rollercoaster. Lots of love/hate. I have two wonderful comments.

Naw... That's my voting strategy, not everyone else. I gave you a 6 on your last two challenges. (definitely uncle joe on the first, though. :)

yay, progress!

What she said. Since there is no 5.5 vote, one must choose whether to rate the average entry slightly lower or slightly higher. I choose to vote the average entry a 6. It will either give the average entry a very small boost, or it will keep it steady where it is. This is balanced out by the person who thinks the entry is as good as I do, but calls that a 5.

I figure 5 is an average is a snapshot my uncle joe could take. (If I had an uncle joe). 6 is an average DPC decent photo. So my voting average is right around 6.

Well I was briefly in the ascendant, and then brought low by a single vote of 1. The power of the least number. It's Kabbalic.

Is there a thread on how to vote?

Reason being....I vote based around the middle of the scale. If there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the image, nicely exposed, nicely composed blah blah then the image would get a 5. If there are problems with the picture, over edited, bad composition, out of focus etc, they get a 4 or lower. And Vice Versa.

I think that makes sense. However, that doesn't explain why there are so many low votes being given. I didn't see that many bad photos in the challenge.
