Yeah you have company, sitting at 4.9 and I'm not seeing any signs of stopping yet.

5.2 and going down. All the comments are very positive and even a fave, so I'm a bit perplexed by this overall performance. I surrender.

Why is it im just crap at being a photographer..... -.-

I give up.

5.1 I can't say I'm pleased with this score but I guess after 63 votes the people have spoken and they are not impressed. Except for the two who spoke by commenting, they, like me, thought it is good.

After the first dozen or so votes I was sitting around 6.7. Now:

Votes: 59
Views: 100
Avg Vote: 5.7627
Comments: 3

I don't think I've ever seen such as dramatic drop as the voting has gone on. I was hoping for a 6+ score with this one. No realistic hope of that now. :(

Yeah, me too. Realised it long time ago but enjoy the challenges. I won't quit now. But I know the feeling

What's happening with comments on this challenge? Has anyone got more than 4?
02/10/2011 05:21:14 AM · #62
I've gotten four, but I suppose I cannot complain -- I probably only left about four.

You said it for me. My score has gone exactly as yours -- same lofty early promise, and now sitting at 5.7+. I've given up expectations for a 6 on this one.

Wow, some cranky voters out there this morning...10 voters and I've dropped quite considerably.
02/10/2011 09:53:03 AM · #65
There's usually not this many trolls, so I'm starting to wonder if there are just major disagreements regarding what constitutes leading lines. Perhaps that's the reason for the unusually large numbers of 2s & 3s.

My score is dropping too.
02/10/2011 10:04:02 AM · #67
Score seems to drop a lot easier with a bad vote than rise with a good vote. One bad vote needs at least 3-4 good votes to repair the damage. Ugh.

I am lost at the moment. It looks like some people are having fun at our expense. I will stop entering weekly challenges till voting makes a little more sense.

Don't worry about it. It's confusing, disturbing, annoying, but I figure it doesn't make that much of a difference when it's happening across the board. After the second day of it, I can say "it is what it is" and let it be. I just need a day or two to rant and rave. :)

Realize that there are real votes in there too, and they're actually the majority. Don't let the idiots chase you away -- that way they win.

I just withdrew my Rule of Thirds entry. I can't withdraw this one. I don't understand at all why the score keeps on dropping. It is a blatantly obvious leading line. Cannot be DNMC. This is my 22nd challenge, I am not exactly a newbie any more but the voting seems much more incosistent than when started few weeks ago.
PS Hi, Vawendy, My post crossed yours. I do mean it this time. Maybe someone from SC should check if there are any recent members with a unusually low average vote. I believe that any voters with average under 4 should be treated as outlier and discarded. There should be also a concern if someone votes only 1s and 10s - wildly extreme voting pattern.

Leading lines can be more of a divisive issue than you think. Some people think the lines have to lead to a subject. Some think they should lead to infinity. Some think that they need to move diagonally and that horizontal or vertical can't be leading lines. There really aren't that many trolls on this site. When there's this many low votes, it usually means different interpretations.

I will stop posting now. I don't think there is a problem with interpretation.

The most prophetic advice I ever received at DPC was the statement, "Not everyone likes your photography, Hahn!" That has turned out to be true. LOL!!! It has been helpful to me to convert any frustrations or anger about low votes or silly comments into energy applied to improving my photography and striving for excellence in future efforts.

So, don't self DQ or withdraw your challenge submissions. You'll learn more from participating, than you will from retreating to seclusion in the outback. (Of course, it's none of my business to give anyone else advice.)
