First, I thought the Challenge was philosophical, then maybe SciFi or futuristic, now after reading this thread
it seems to be dreary song lyrics....which I never heard of before. (And after looking them up wish I still hadn't!)

What's a girl to do?

I don't think that this challenge is about the song because the song isn't mentioned in the challenge subject.
I think that it will be best if you'll take it to your own world with your own interpretation and play with it.
"Show us what one might expect if they venture further up the road." - "road" can be interpreted as physical as well as spiritual / mental.

LOL - I like that approach.

Further means "to a greater degree," "additional," or "additionally." It refers to time or amount.
Farther refers to length or distance.
I'm not sure what they want LOL

Just keep in mind most voters will not read this thread, and the majority will vote on the challenge title without reading the description. Follow the way of Malcolm Gladwell, what ever that first thought is, it is likely to be your best idea. Following into the agreed upon subject matter that others put in your head is likely to result in an image very similar to others, and you will get judged on technical merit and your comments will be largely on how this shot compares to the others like it.

Oh, Brennan, I have an image in a current challenge that, while I think it is my very best idea, is presently scoring in the four point three range. Never mind, I say this with a smile, 'cause I know you're right.

Exactly! This has nothing to do with a song IMO - it's a cliche, or a saying, and you provide the answer with your photo.

That's why I won't enter this challenge. Too risky, espcially considering that this is an open challenge.

Yes, I do. But not this time ;)

What am I risking exactly??

life itself.

It's not a matter of life or death for sure, simply I won't enter. Life goes on as usual. At least for me.

Alex would be risking this:

Avg Vote Received: 6.1737

Well, I don't wanna waste my good average score and I'd like to reach 6.20 before the end of the year, but it doesn't stop me entering risky images when I like them, as in Corners and Glasses challenges. I didn't get good votes but I'm still happy with them. The lyrics of the song didn't inspire me, so I have no brilliant ideas. This was the starting point and that's why I won't enter :)

I'm not good enough to reserve a ribbon for me, but I always try to do my best here :)

For a while I was focused on boosting my average, but recently I have made one goals to take more risks on challenges. If I am happy with an image I entered it even if I think it will score below my average. Some of my risks this year have scored well, some have not scored very well but gotten PH recognition and/or good comments from folks I respect, and others have been all out flops. But, I think the more risks I take the more I learn.

That's what I have written before, so I agree with you, even if improvement IMO is not a matter of risking, but only of studying and trying.

i'm in the same boat... my average rose enough to be able to cross one of my profile goals off my list, so i have been trying to keep scoring above my average, or at least split my "risky" images and my "crowd pleasers" to keep a slow upward trend... but it is HARD!!!

my average has come up some but I am still in the 4.6 range.

I wish this challenge had been "Further Down the Road"... I'd have a lot more to shoot.
