I have never tried to get a macro shot of a race car, wonder how it came out?
09/03/2012 08:21:20 PM · #5
I want to see the shot, because there's such a thing as being too close. Can't quite figure out what shot would be worth doing that.

That guy might be the brother of the guy who photographed a grizzly from 50 yards away and got fatally mauled as a reward.

Good golly.

I wonder why I never see women on these types of things... like the whole "do stupid stuff" video shows and such...

*rolleyes*

Umm, just search for "women fail" videos. Plenty of stupid bike tricks and other bad ideas.

Not me...I tend to value my equipment more than that.....Imagine what that car could have done to a camera / lens LMAO

Very small brain, or very large cajones. Or some combination of both. Either way, I kind of admire the passion. Horrible idea, nonetheless.

The ones standing at the guardrail aren't much brighter. Those things are not impenetrable force fields. I've been at a track and had a car come through the fence near where I was. I was a lot further back from the fence than those guys, and it was a bit too close a call for my liking. I also learned I could run a lot faster than I thought.

I know about drifting, and I did realize it wasn't as extreme a situation to be in as it looks, but even so, that's an absurd place to put yourself, ON the course...

Not anymore. But I'm a car nut from way back, and a LONG time ago I attended the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, and we did 4-wheel drifting in that... I drive a little more sedately now, but I've had my moments... Anyway, I follow this drifting stuff, it's an interesting evolution in motorsports.

It's the Arab drifting that's stunning. The death rate is stupendously high.

Bear, the longer I know you on DPC, the more I'd like to know in real life. :)

OMG - video. Look especially at 0:45-0:53. That's on an open highway with other cars nearby.
