Besides, if he's not happy with Bear's design, he can always get his money back. :)

I'm not sure about the red overlapping the black text. A guideline I've heard is that the logo should be reproducible in black and white and still be clear and recognisable.

sorry, but that's more than obvious. i wish any of you had read Joshuas briefing.

Geeze, Oliver, no need to rub it in. I was just playing around a little and I said so :-(

Turn that frown upside-down buddy Bear.

FWIW, although I do think it's not to my taste, I've seen FAR worse designs in use by major companies.

I am pretty sure I know what I want to go with. It will relate well on a card, pen, website, t-shirt etc... It is clean and simple and different. And one of the first designs I received, the one with the camera is nice and all but again it looks like any number of other photographers logos.

I think there may be some mileage in the half camera logo and agree if this was the case, the mp needs some work.

Design is such a subjective thing - I remember the difficulty I have had choosing designs on 99designs in the past. I don't think anything ever really blew me away but then I was paying peanuts so I can't complain. I do remember thinking the amount of time I had to spend giving feedback to all the designs was a huge amount of time and I felt the time would have been better spent having a go myself in Photoshop or Illustrator. The great thing is you can always change your logo in a years time so don't get too hung up on it and don't print too many business cards at once.

They all look ok,
but this one hits the correct phallic note...

My favorite are the top left and the top right, but I agree with the previous posters that the MP should be worked with a bit more.

I can help you make up your mind by saying "If you want to use MY version, that'll be $750.00, please!" Would that help? (Just kiddin')

I'll go along with that, sort of. It does feel a little heavy. But it feels more heavy presented this way than it would when used as part of a design for a business card, and as ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Pamb pointed out it would work well "on the side of a car" and so forth. But I'm just a dabbler at this stuff, not a high-end graphic designer. Still, when I think of Joshua Minso and his work/style, "elegant" is not what comes to mind. "Solid", even "aggressive", would be closer to the mark.

You do make a fine point.

Yep, agreed. But I like the fact that you could put this on the side of a car and people would be not only able to read it, but also to understand what the business is about.

Can't stand elegant but illegible logos.

eta: for instance, I like the third one in the survey ones, but I can't read it clearly, couldn't possibly read it on the side of a car, and would have to squint at a business card displaying it.

Nice. It pops, is easy to read, and is clearly about photography.

Yep, this one.

The first 2 designcrowd logos look a little too phallic for me :-/

I prefer the design that has the straight bar divider between the light/dark versions... It's elegant, but not over the top, and a nice design overall IMO.
