I've created 183. I'm sure some here have created plenty more than that too. So what is your point?

She wanted to celebrate the century mark with a particularly negative/dismissive missive? And she's making sure we "get" it?

Maybe she wants a ribbon?

Wasn't that this thread?

I was looking for some Saturday night entertainment and all I found was this thread. Booooring.

How 'bout a "I'm leaving thread" - anyone?

LOL!

I'm leaving but I'll be back tomorrow (but in Canada and US will be the same day) :)

Is DPC is dying? I don't think so, but it's difficult to see how a thread such as this could come that conclusion - after all, we are the ones who are still participating. Sure, some people leave - but many also come back! There's a reason for that - there isn't really anywhere else like it.

As for the forums, we have the US election which is slightly polarising and generally I think robust 'discussions' are a marker of engagement (even if some of it is strong on opinion), what's the alternative? Indifference and safe conversations? No thank you.

I read many of the threads - certainly as often as I always did. I may pick and choose what I enter a bit more than I used to, but like Ray - that reflects my life.

drop downs still don't work from my iPhone... and you're right, it's annoying... has anybody figured this out yet?

No unfortunately I'm still using bookmarks for the essential on my iPad.

Is this a result of the update? Hmmm...my iPhone works well.

My iPhone doesn't work where the menus are concerned either :(

Geez no, you spend five months talking about how you are going to leave in a big ol snit, and then never do. If you actually went away for any time, where would the entertainment value be?

I am worried that DPC is dying a slow death due to the inaction of its founder. I just cannot understand why he won't let others make the badly needed improvements. A lot of DPCers would put their own time for site improvements for free. If he is worried that someone would steel his idea then maybe he could patent the DPC model/software? I think it is patentable.

What was the purpose of Get Satisfaction if it was not followed up? Why not try to do something new after 10 years? The Internet has moved in leaps and bounds in that time.

There is nothing unique about this site. What would he patent?
The only thing this site currently has as opposed to other challenge websites is numbers. I know other sites are making efforts to increase membership.

To pull the blanket over peoples eyes? My best guess.

It has
and you could easily have found that thread, witness the inevitable conclusion and yet you want to beat it again. Pointless, unless your purpose is to stir the pot. End the thread and let's move on.

So nobody can persuade ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', '/') + 1) . ' langdon to do something new about DPC?

SOOOO.... let's talk about something nice(r). How about global warming? What do y'all think. Are we in the end all going to melt and end up as tiny stains on our chairs?

I think they refer to it as "Climate Change" these days... so we could end up like a frozen turds on our chairs.

California may have a significant earthquake event sometime betweem tomorrow (Sunday) and election day. San Francisco, or thereabouts.

If you have an idea for a better website, build it... Personally i don't think this place is broken. I never came here for "quality discussions"... I'm here for challenges.

camera manuals should come with flow charts.

' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Mnet, should I assume that you have personally asked ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', '/') + 1) . ' langdon this question,
and the others you have raised in this Thread?

I sort of get the impression from this thread that you want someone else to ask ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', '/') + 1) . ' langdon these questions.
But given your forthrightness, I cannot believe that is true and that of course you can write your
thoughts out for him.

It's rather unlikely he reads all these Forum threads. Don't you agree?

So, my suggestion would be to ask ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/1.gif', '/') + 1) . ' langdon "to do something new about DPC" if your feel
something new must be done.

Has anyone noticed the advanced search options before or am I late to the game???

Why don't you all give Margaret a break! Some are just so quick to demonize her no matter what she does. I sat back and watched during the last controversy but I have interacted a lot more with her and she is a great person with a very critical eye for good photography. So come on... She merely posed a question that has been well received in the community at other times by others who have asked it. Show a little grace and decorum! Aren't you all artists? Isn't the art community supposed to be accepting of others??

Isn't that the advice Margaret's been offered several times?

Let's see ...

A challenge absolutely free to enter ever week? Check.
Two to three additional challenges weekly for paid members? Check.
Functioning voting system? Check.
Simple-to-use Portfolio space included with paid membership? Check.
Public storefront for print sales included with paid membership? Check.
Extensive advice, tutorials, and how-to articles contributed by members? Check.
Challenge topics contributed by member suggestion 98% of the time? Check.
Ability for members to host their own "side challenges" or learning forums? Check.
99% Site uptime? Check.
Largely uncensored discussion forums? Check.
Positive attitude and mutual respect? Maybe not so much lately ... :-(
Change for the sake of change? No.

As far as I can tell, the only really necessary change might be to institute some sort of bulk-pricing option for people with a lot of prints for sale at DPC Prints, and I'm pretty sure that's not just a quick "code adjustment."

OK. Before I start on the whiskey.

What I mean by a flow chart is something by way of clarity, something by way of first things first.

Some of us do not agree that the animal is moribund any more than, say, a finely tuned rollerskate. (I was going to say automobile, but its morbidity is belaboured). I believe that some of us are happy here, and even welcome challenges with fewer entries. I know I do because it gives me a chance to go over them with greater attention and therefore to get more out of them. As for entering the contests, is placing well among 100 entries less instructive than doing so out of 300?

I DON'T SEE THE B****Y PROBLEM where users are concerned. Some fine photographers have moved on, it is true, but I challenge anyone to show that there is something our creator could do/could have done to prevent/have prevented that.

On all of my cameras there are certain otherwise adjustable features that cannot be adjusted when in certain modes. A flow chart would help.

Prost.
