That is really nice of you.

I'm going to leave a few comments now, but I'm going to add a different twist to what I normally write, because I get bored of the same ole comments like, " I like the crop' or I like the tones' Eeek I may of even said those things in the past, actually pretty sure I have!

I would hope that everyone who entered could try and comment on at least 10% of the entries I dare you too, even the meh ones!

This place needs to be revived imho. A few years ago, people were a lot more generous with their comments.
I believe that this is one of the cornerstones to keep the community alive and cling together.

You have commented on 50 images (28%) in this challenge.

Still a long way to go. I do hope I'll finish them all before roll over

This challenge is developing into a nightmare again ...
from a high 6.5 after 11 votes I have been steadily dropping since then
and am currently at 5.6 after 54 votes. :(

Great idea Ladies! Right, now. Just 10% of 179 comes out to 17.9. Round it up and it is 18 comments. Divide that by 7 days of voting that translates to 2.5 comments a day.

So, that said -

let's say we bump it up to everyone trying for a 25 minimum comment count spread across there voting scale. Divide that by 7 days voting that translates to 3.5 comments per day.

Come on Ladies and Gents that is something we can all do!

Think of it - all 179 participates leave a total of 25 comments that would be 4,475. Ah wait, too many numbers - how about we shoot for at least 1,000 comments left on the challenge by rollover.

Let's do this!!!!!

Uhm...now you've lost me.
These are stats on the challenge itself? general stats?
Where can I find them?

If you go to the Hidden Challenge page where all the entries are laid out you will see the description at the top that reads:

Challenge: Member Challenge Hidden Gem III (Jun. 21st 2013 - Jun. 27th 2013) (Right at the end here is little icon that looks like a note. Click on that and you will get the current stats of how many votes have been cast, number of comments given and participants)

Good idea no one has any excuses to go out and comment more, if you have time to take a photo, you have time to comment!

BTW those stats are way low that's an average of 1.91 comments for each photo, not very high, but it is early days.

I think I already did my bit as far back as yesterday

You have rated 178 of 178 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 80 images (45%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.3764.

My own score is dismal at 5.6 now after 54 votes. I was at 6.5 after 11 votes. This might just be the last challenge I ever enter on DPC after this.
Seriously considering pulling the plug here and heading for different pastures.

Edited to correct my bad typing due to fat fingers or maybe I need a keyboard with bigger keys.

Fred, thanks for the participation - and the comment on mine. If DPC still challenges and motivates you to go out and shoot, create and experiment with art/photography types I think it is still a good place to stick around. I used to be very fixated on the numbers in the score. Once I let go of looking at those numbers and instead looked at the feedback and also if I was happy with it, I felt 'free'. Oh, I slip from time to time but I feel what is more important is the comment feedback and creating. BTW, your work titled The Potato Eaters is a favorite of mine - love what you accomplished in that shot.

That said my entry score is currently the total price of a half serving of a tasty chicken & summer berry salad paired with a bottle of honey mint tea:-) Some may or may not be happy with it but it sits fine with me. I hope it holds for that is a tasty meal:-)

O.k. I am going back to leave comments now and in some cases bump up.

Stats: You have rated 176 of 178 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 11 images (6%) in this challenge.

Comments are great -they really are.

But IMO, for this site not to fade away, it needs to up the allowed pixel size to something like 1200x900 - at least.

Just my opinion.

Yes, but while you are waiting there is the thing you *CAN* do now. And that is leave comments. That, in itself, is one thing that helps to glue this community together. So, what are you waiting for?;-) There are 179 participants that have issued an invitation for you to look at their work. Comments are the welcome gift.

1000 x pixels wide and 800 pixels high is what we are asking for with a file size of 400KB
//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=1205785

Anyway this isn't the thread for that...this a thread about the "Hidden Gem" challenge.
There are enough posts in the Members section about the issue you brought up here.
In the meantime I suggest you follow the advice C.Novack just gave you :)

Well, I'm asking for 1980x1080 and at least 1MB files. This is 2013. And why can I not post about that here?

:-) Because it is like opening a Steak House in a town populated by Vegans. By that I mean that your request is just going to get lost in all the chatter about this challenge.

It needs the proper forum to get the most attention and more importantly be the visible and easily findable 'petition' that everybody signs---> Langdon a plea...so how about 1000 pixel wide After all, when this challenge ends which forum thread do you think DPCers (and admins) going to look for requests for bigger file size?

Stats: You have rated 176 of 178 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 15 images (8%) in this challenge.

Because your request will more likely be noticed by the concerned people in a dedicated topic than here, a topic on a running challenge.
I don't think they will first do a global search to find out if anyone proposed another format somewhere in another unrelated one.
They will consider perhaps each proposal made in that topic, look at the pros and contras of each and then decide what to do.

But of course you are free to post anything you wish anywhere you want.

Well, I just felt like putting it out there - it's not like I think the admins doesn't know the users wishes concerning picture size :)

Nearly there. Some comments are really focused on the technical aspects, others are more directed towards what is shown.

My little gem just had a close encounter with a my-gem-hater.
Perhaps it'll crawl back up to where it came from.
But it doesn't matter too much: got some great comments :)
