Can someone please take a look at this pic and tell me what causes these spots and what can I do to get rid of them It only seems to happen with the 75 x 300 lens

Are you sure the symptom is restricted to one lens only? Have tried to take the same pic with another at smallest aperture?

ewwwwwwwww. You got dust bunnies on your sensor. Just follow the instructions in the manuel regarding cleaning the sensor. Use a bulb blower (not compressed air). If it's really a problem, you'll need to swab the sensor. This is a great link for the swabbing part:
