This is what I get for commenting on all of them.
A freaking do-over.

Sorry folks. The ribbon idea was an afterthought on my part that I didn't really consider pre-rollover. The thing really only formed today... We'll know what to do for "guess the score ii" though!

Theres still an opportunity for you commentors to get some bling if you guess consistently accurately though! :-)

Yes.

You have rated 74 of 74 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 74 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.8649.

All done, that was fun, the Special Ribbon announcement was a good incentive for commenting, thanks to Niall for the very good idea and to Langdon for allowing it ;)

I think you are right in the ballpark on mine - at any rate you have lots of company, yours truly included, in your assessment of it :)

Langdon said if there were two numerals, it would get flagged for human intervention, so you can quit now, Don :) But the more of us who put only our guess in our comment as a numeral, the fewer that human will have to handle, so your diligence is appreciated, I'm sure.

Already done.

I think it's great to encourage commenting, but wasn't the point of this challenge to see who could guess what score the voters would award their own photo? Don't the people whose final score comes closest to their title (their guess) deserve recognition too?

That should count, too. But the other will be more impressive. :)

I totally had the comments thing wrong...my understanding was that the guess was supposed to be by the one submitting the photos and the commentors telling the submittors if we agree or not on what they are guessing. ...if we we disagree we put what we did vote

all of a sudden we are supposed to guess their score too.....

If the game changes last minute we should not be dinged for it

I think perhaps you've misunderstood.

"We often have an expected score in mind when submitting images to challenges here. Enter an image, but title the image with the score you expect to receive. Voters should vote as normal, but in the comments include a guess of their own."

The only thing that has changed at the last minute is the Special Ribbons that will be awarded for the commentor/s who provide the most accurate average score guess.

I can see how the special ribbon implementation in the middle of voting might be a bit confusing though... :)

And hey, it's obviously working - comments have gone from 350 to 659 just now. Awesome!

I expect the SC to delete comments which use religious epithets. An adjective using Jewish or Catholic or Protestant or the like is a violation of TOS. Most of the 14 comments I've rec'd are good and constructive. But I am really offended by the one very offensive comment.

I like this idea. I'll vote and comment on them but probably won't get to it till this weekend.

That description was edited to its current form today. It didn't tell voters to guess before.

OK, cool! Sorry about that! It certainly explains the confusion. :)

It is very easy to confuse me LOL

I like this idea a lot and its good to hear others comments which why this was made in the first place..

Apologies if I missed it, but is there a minimum number of images that the vote-guesser must comment on? Is 100% required?
02/04/2015 03:00:24 PM · #44
Given that the special ribbons in question are being issued under such rare circumstances, it seems only fair to award them to those who put in the most effort (100%).

Isn't tomorrow the voting deadline?

I'm looking forward to seeing who has their finger in the pulse of the DPC voters.

Right! One would think that the people who get ribbons most often would have a better guess. It would be interesting to see how many of these people participate

So far all of my comments (16 so far but I intend to get through them all) contain my vote and my prediction. So I guess they are all going to be flagged for intervention. I intend to keep doing this because I know that some will get a higher vote from me than the average vote and I would like them to know that I appreciate the image more than my prediction may suggest.

Marion, maybe you could write out the score you gave them in words "eight" and put your guess at the end in numbers - 6.4758 ? Would that work maybe?

Yes! This is a great idea.
