Bill owns a company that manufactures and installs car wash systems. (Magic Wand Car Wash Systems, just in case you want to buy one.) Bill'scompany installed a car wash system in Frederick, Md. Now understand that these are complete systems, including the money changer and money taking machines.

The problem started when the new owner complained to Bill that he was losing significant amounts of money from his coin machines each week. He went as far as to accuse Bill's employees of having a key to the boxes and ripping him off. Bill just couldn't believe that his people would do that, so they set up a camera.

That's a bird sitting on the change slot of the machine.

The bird had to go down into the machine, and back up inside to get to the money!

That's three quarters he has in his beak! Another amazing thing is that it was not just one bird -- there were several working together.

Once they identified the thieves, they found over $4000 in quarters on the roof of the car wash and more under a nearby tree.

Once they'd caught the ringleader it sang like a canary and the others were soon caught.

heh heh... you noticed that, huh? I've been walking on eggshells for the last couple weeks. Here is some more photos of strangeness!

The story goes....

A US Customs Primary Inspector at a border crossing asked the driver of this Suburban for vehicle registration. Suddenly, a hand came out of the glove compartment, providing the requested document which the driver showed the inspector. Since the driver did not appear to be a member of the "Adams Family" th inspector became suspicious, thus leading to a full search. Just think, if smugglers can put a 135-pound body behind the dashboard, imagine what they could do with dope!

on edit: so no one gets weird about me posting these... I'll critique them.

*Ahem!* I think that while the subject matter is interesting, the caliber of composition is lacking. The onboard flash is harsh and casts glare and shadows. The focus seems soft and I feel there should be less depth of field to keep attention on the perp. The last photo chopped of the perp's feet and it would be better of we could seeher face. I would have enjoyed these photos more without the date stamp. I give this series a 5... completely on the subject matter.

I would love to answer your questions, however I must insist that you include a critique at least. This is a photography discussion. Thanks, and please drive through.

Ah come one Tony. The depth of field is just right. It highlights the beautiful texture of the fine upholstery. I'll give it a 7 for it's overall journalistic appeal.

Wait a minute! These pictures weren't taken during the challenge week. I think I'll have to recommend a DQ. Could have been a contendah!
