Oh, and Wendy, you need to keep shooting and playing. You ARE DPC! :)

I kind of agree with Wendy regarding the number of challenges. It used to be easy for me to keep track of the challenges and when they were due but now I am constantly checking. I too used to enter every challenge but this Monday will be the first time in forever that I will not have anything in the voting. I am having some health problems in my family which causes some of that but I find the two week challenge period just too much.

I suggest one remedy aimed especially at the people frustrated by the marks: after voting to go back and bump each picture by one increment. At least that's what I'll do as an experiment. I do not remember when I gave a mark of 1 or 2 and 3 is exceedingly rare.

Deb, I am in 3 challenges now and one of them reached 5, the others are in the 4 realm.
I have 1 wonderful comment (thanks ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' blindjustice - an apt name)
Do these low scores deter me from entering challenges? Not in the least. I would love more constructive comments though. And some more of the struggle from each one of us to create a novel, personal point of view even if it strays a bit from the topic.

Deb, I am late to this but I am really happy that you are not leaving. There are so many shots of yours that I love and hate myself for not taking the time to
comment and to tell you that.

The people who get off on low voting will always be around but I have started to use the "morale" method by voting up a notch in each challenge. What used to be a 5 is now a 6 etc.
I do it because of what is being discussed in this thread.

I miss comments as much as I do good discussion boards and as much as I try, I wind up shooting an explicative here and there but have not put the time and effort into constructive
thoughtful comments which is the reason I have stuck around for so many years.

I wish I had the courage to pm someone who has an exceptionally low voting average. I just might work up to it....maybe.

As Johanna has said, DPC is what we put into it. I comment too infrequently, sometimes forget to vote, don't participate in many discussion boards etc and I am still hear complaining...duh!

I will say that it would be awfully nice to get one (1) entry to score at or above my average before the end of the year.

We want more.
