Hey guys,

Any 10D, 20D, D60 users using a Canon Handstrap? I think I'll be getting one since I'm getting the battery grip.

Any thoughts on this accessory?

I'm using it for my D.Rebel and really like it. It gives you more security handholding the camera.

Do you use it with a battery grip?

You have to; Won't work otherwise :-)

Just get it - it'll be badass ;-)

I use it with my 1D mark II, wouldn't even think of shooting it without the Handstrap. Only problem is that you cannot attach the neck strap at the same time, it's either or.

Yeh, looks like you have to have a "bottom" eyelet in order to mount the hand strap. I'd very much like to use a strap like that, but I'm reluctant to add the battery grip. I don't care that much for the additional bulk of the camera with a grip mounted. I might come around, but not unless I do something different for a bag. As it is, the cam+grip combination would be a major PITA in my current bag.

I've the 10D and grip+handstrap and it is great. On the 10D (at least) you can have both the neck and handstaps at the same time, you attach the neckstrap to the top-end of the handstrap with the appropriate thingy.
The handstrap gives you a lot of support and makes it very easy to let the camera "dangle" in your hand, ready for instant use.

Yup, I shoot with one on my friend's 1D. It's way nicer than trying to wrap the neckstrap around my wrist (does anyone really use the neckstrap for it's intended purpose?) I actually just ordered one yesterday for my 10D (w/ BG-ED3). B&H and Adorama seem to be out of stock, so I just picked it up (new) on e-bay.

Can you post a pic of how you do that? I tried all sorts of combination but could not get the neck strap to attach securely with the handstrap on.

Apart from the extra battery (and a badass factor of +3)I thought the portrait mode was the best thing with a grip - can you still use the portrait grip with the handstrap???

I have a same/similar one on my E-10 with the battery grip and wouldn't have it any other way. Your camera can be part of your hand. Great in crowds too, as it isn't being bumped around hanging on a strap and much less prone to being ripped off if someone wanted it real bad hanging on a strap.

It threw me when I got ti, especially as the handstrap didn't have destructions. I worked it out in the end. However, was sure I had seen them somewhere ... and later stumbled into them on the destructions for the battery grip (stupid not to put them with the strap as well).

The metal plate with the three slots in it. The two larger slots are for the doubling up of the handstrap, which you will have done by now. The third thinner slot is left empty and goes at the top, to take the neck strap.

I just wish the next strap had clips, to save stuffing around rethreading the straps, and think I may modify mine to that end.

Thr final frame of the destructions is below. This assumes you have the hand strap on correctly already. Camera is on ots side, top of camera to the left.

P.S. Yes, it is a kick-ass accessory :)

Got my battery grip and hand strap Thursday afternoon. Looks pretty badass:

Man, I don't know why I went so long without getting a battery grip. The main thing I find is that it balances the camera real well when it's on the neckstrap; it stops the camera from tipping forward, even with my 550EX flash and 28-135mm IS attached to the camera.

I kept both the handstrap and neckstrap on the camera.

Yeah, pretty Badass! I wouldn't even think about shooting the 1D MII without the Handstrap, it should be standard equipment with those Cameras.
