So, i found myself on the wrong end of a lot of riot shields today, amusing all things considered (and my username). Had to spend about three hours altogether being shoved around the main streets before they let us go. Made friends with some other journalists which prompted me to upload a few of my better shots from today and the march on saturday. Have a quick look, there are only a dozen or so up just now.

This will keep being updated through the week so feel free to check back often - more of the earlier pics will also come up once i get through with sorting them.

Any comments would very much appreciated!

I will comment, I think the protesters are a bunch of idiots.
Great pictures BTW.

Some good work there, Eugene. I can't look properly on my work monitor - I'll post later.

Nice work - so bizarre to see riot police on Princes St.

Interesting that you noted an absence of violence. The papers seem to have bought pictures that included violence - either you were in the wrong spot, or the photographers who sold their pics got lucky. If so, a good example of how pictures can be used to tell lies.

Nice pictures generally - the story telling ones are the most interesting for me by way of subject matter.

I think B&W would be better for some of them

BTW it is funny how some people think this type of protesters are a bnunch of idiots, But if they go to a pop concert then they are 'making a change'

Some great photos, I really wish I was there to cover it. I particularly like mchate, very iconic image.

Just look at the guy with the "Anarchism is autonomy" poster. He makes my point about being an idiot. Most of these protesters are bored unemployed losers with nothing better to do.

Sheesh, I can see this thread going the wrong way... it's about the photos folks! Nonetheless, I have a great deal of sympathy for people who campaign against the soul-less capitalist greedy money-first society we are turning into. Don't judge the ideals by the stereotypes of some of the people involved. Look deeper.

Well i'm probably going to drive to auchterarder and see what's going on there, most of the big protests should be there tomorrow. I expect there'll be action in edinburgh both in the meadows and on princes st again one way or another.
