Just wanted to see if anyone had experience with rechargeable CR123A batteries. My flash (Nikon SB-50) uses these, and the regular kind isn't particularly cheap and I can use them up pretty quickly.

Anyone have any experience with any particular brand of rechargeables of this type? I see that they exist, which makes me happy!

Since this thread obviously stirred up a ton of interest and debate when I originally posted it last week (?) I thought I'd provide an update in case anyone was interested.

I found some rechargeable CR123A batteries at www.batteryspace.com.

Just got them in the mail today, and all indications are they're just what I was hoping for. The normal (non-rechargeable) versions of these buggers cost a good $5 or so each, so I'm looking forward to being able to reuse these new ones!

so these are cr123a batteries for the sb-50DX right? I have the same flash and would be more then intested in finding some rechargeable replacments. Thanks for the info.

Yup! These batteries are used for all sorts of cameras, etc., including the SB-50DX flash.

I'm surprise the flash uses an odd size battery instead of a AA or something.

Yeah its horribly annoying. In Ottawa Ont. the batteries go for 9.99each and you can only buy them in single packages that I've seen...... Makes me strive for natural light!

Yeah, that's one thing I don't like about the flash. Seems like most every other unit does use regular AAs.
