Somebody on this site once made a remark about improving your photography skills by leaving comments. I think it was more in regards to comments that technically incorrect. Anyways, I've thought about it for awhile and since I need to improve my photography skills and my comment skills. I've decided to kill two birds with one stone, and will try to offer comments to all photos posted to this thread. Well, maybe all photos within reason;)

I'll start things off...

Hi Mark, I just wanted to say a public thanks to you (and others) for taking the time to leave comments on some of my photos. They are much appreciated! :-) And I've found leaving comments to be very helpful to myself as it helps me look for things that I may not have noticed otherwise. It makes me think, what about this photo makes me like it, dislike it, or what I might have done differently, or I can take information from it and apply it to my own photographs. Whatever the reason, it's always nice to get comments and to know that someone was moved by a photo in some small way enough for them to tell me about it.

Thanks again! :-D

I completely agree -- you will learn more from the comments you leave on other people's photos than from those people leave on your photos. You might want to consider joining the Critique Club.

First one was tough, a good photo and hard to critique. Lots of creativity in the editing. Anybody else?

I was looking at your recent comments, pekesty. Are you only commenting on ones you like? How about the average to poor shots? It's the average photos that tend to go unnoticed, could use some help, but are hardest to comment on. What if you run across some of the lower placing photos? Just curious...

Thank you both for the critique! That has helped me a ton because they were very useful comments. Side note, that look I captured was totally an accident, she was not posing, I was chasing her around the yard with my camera while she was playing with a toy and it was just one of the shots I captured. I do feel lucky to catch at awesome little expression :)

You're absolutely right, but that's part of the reason for this thread. It's a chance for those that haven't got any comments to post and receive some by me, hopefully by some other members too.

Good ones are easy(and I'm kind of lazy, haha) that's why there are so many of those types. But, I like to let people know when I like their work. I've been trying to make more of an effort to critique on the average and less than average, at least where I think I have something to offer.

P.S. To those that post... it may take me awhile to get to you, be patient.

Hi Mark,
This is really big of you and a great idea indeed! I have noticed your comments on my shots and appreciate them tremendously. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this thread will continue right after the shutter speed challenge 'coz my entry really needs some honest-to-goodness comments. I've had 2 and can only be thankful both are of quality not praise. I'm going to try and return the favour here and watch this thread to place some comments.

BTW, Strikeslip, left you a comment.

Nice Snowy Owl picture, but the totally white background seems completely out of place. Just doesn't look natural and gives the image a "fake" feel.

I had a good number of comments on this one, but some that don't say "this doesn't meet the challenge" would be cool too.

Thank you for all your helpful comments! I took the comments and put the picture back in for post editing and hope you like the results!

Left another comment, I had already left one in the challenge. Still love it.
