Here's a rule of thumb that can save money.

Buy filters for the largest lens you own or intend to own and then buy step up rings for the other lenses. Step up rings are between 10 and 15 $ whereas filters can be very expensive.

For wildlife and landscape, UV and polarizer are the first two and a Cokin system for grad ND filters.

The one filter you have to have is the circular polarizer. It's indispensible. This lens uses 67mm filters. If that's the largest diameter lens you own, that's the size to get. Then buy step-down rings for your other lenses if you wish.

However, when you use step-down rings you can't use the lens hood on that lens, which i consider a serious liability. So I just own properly-sized filters for each of my different lens sizes.

I don't know about sigma but Hoya has different grades of filters. Multicoated are the ones to get to cut down on flare. Hoya as two grades of these Multicoated and super multicoated (SMC).

B + W is a good brand as well but they are more expensive, almost double the Hoya SMC.

I personally would recommend cheap Multicoated UV filters for protection and a cheap Polarizer.
