A lot of fives and zero comments. Maybe my mind was adding to much to it that isn't there because I was there, you know, feel the ambiance and smell the smoke and such. But I didn't expect 507/619. Looking at it again I can see it looks a bit flat (lack of depth) and because there is no interaction with the person you might feel like an outsider. Your own views on it are very much welcome.

Maybe I better could have entered something like:

Didn't vote that one, but looks like an average photo with an average score in a very tough competition also. Far as I can tell there's nothing wrong with it.

I think this would've done better and pulled about a 5.5 - 5.6:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/3032/thumb/292586.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/3032/thumb/292586.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

If I were you, I'd probably enter the two huskies. Just because the picture composition and overall atmosphere is much more intriguing. Or if you could have made the one you submitted in black and white it would have worked better.

Thank you for your replies and comments.

I tried making the entry b&w, but wasn't satisfied with the results. It is already an ISO1600 shot with lots of shadows (grain is easy to pull from there) and when I converted to B&W (FM plugin with color filtered b&w presets and channel mixing) it was exaggerated even more (also because of the curves and contrast tweaks to get the right balance).
