Taken with the brand new sigma 105, using the lightsphere as the only light source (ambient TV flicker light too, but that was minor).

Well - here are some test shots from yesterday. All indoors.

This one is flash only, aimed at Taylor ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299702.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299702.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Flash only, bounced off celing ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299703.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299703.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

(These were in a very dark room and very close to a wall)

Other test shots

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299706.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299706.jpg', '/') + 1) . You knew Lexi would get shot... ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299708.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299708.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

And this one is a bit of a tree in my office - no lights anywhere around, no ambient whatsoever, only lightsphere on flash ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299709.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/15266/thumb/299709.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Edit to mention - weather permitting I hope to try it on some outdoor portraits this afternoon and tomorrow.

Had the lightsphere outside all day today at a Scotish faire. It performed really well! I'll post pics later - gotta go shoot a b-day party now, so more use for the lightsphere! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

Well, since we couldn't get a group buy together :-), I went and ordered mine along with the dome. Can't wait for this one--should be a winner. And Alfresco, that is an amazing shot--the clarity is excellent. I assume you were using a tripod, but I've been known to make incorrect assumptions...

You are quite correct - I tripoded and remoted.

Edit for another example of lightsphere lighting:

Sweet indeed. My lightsphere was a birthday present from my son, received when we arrived on vacation in NH last week. Here are 3 different examples of the lightsphere (and my new Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L). Model Kelly appeared at my son's office to pick up some printed T-shirts and I asked if I could take a photo or two. There was no time to prepare - it was just off the cuff! Without the lightsphere it would not have been possible.
The portrait of baby Ellie is a candid, but again, lightsphere made it work.
The cats would have been in silhouette without flash and blown with direct flash. . . .
Buy one!

Unfortunately, the Lightsphere PJ isn't as sweet without the dome. Anyone else getting that impression? I don't have the dome. :(

You can order the dome seperately from Gary Fong's website for $12.95. :)

Mine came with the dome. Was it the older models that didn't have it?

I took this at work with 40 foot ceiling. These are postal workers warming up before working on automation machines. No adjustments to the photo. Lightshere aimed up.

I've been in contact with fedex for the last three days trying to track down the delivery guy to figure out where it was and who the mysterious person is that signed for it. They have said twice they were going to call back the same day and haven't... If you can request UPS from Wong's site, do it. Fedex is on my black list right now...

Ok, so after a week of waiting it finally came... but UPS, not fedex - which is what Fong's website sent me for a tracking number. I'm really confused but the sphere is great! I too think it is well worth the price.

Where can I buy it in Canada? I'm tired of getting dinged by Canada Customs.

UPS says mine is on its way, and should be here on Monday, 3/6. Here's to hoping it gets in a little early--say Friday? I'd love to play with it over the weekend.

On his own yacht. I'm not kidding--check out the blog on his site. His yacht is beautiful. But what's a few hundred grand on a boat when you've got that kind of money...
