yeah i watched the video too (or the lightsphere part anyhow), although I couldn't get the thumb inside of the lightsphere part to work.. it didn't seem to help.. however my littl trick, is to get three corners in, then work on the last one, instead on just have 2 corners in and trying to get the other two in at the same time.

One of my first using the lightsphere II. Brought it to work to try out for an event instead of lugging my strobes around.' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/28299/thumb/317145.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/28299/thumb/317145.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

I really do like using it. I didn't have any problems attaching it, but a couple of times while I was photographing an event, it actually fell off. No big deal (because it's soft plastic). I just looked like a dweeb.

Nice shot! :) Which # did you order? I shook mine to see if it would fall and it's on there snug. Maybe you could write to them and see what they suggest, because it shouldn't be falling off.

Good luck and hope that you get it worked out. :)

To be honest, that's all I got too. I had to buy the cheap steak knives separately at the dollar store. :(

Hey at least you guys got the Lightsphere. I got nothing! Of course it might help if I actually sent Mr. Fong some money.

I read this thread and had to order, went through the Aussie dist. Only took 2 days to arrive! w00t....

Got it out, put it on my SB800 and pointed it at the dog.. Ohhh no everything is over exposed! Ohh I gotta point it up? But I have 11' Ceilings because I live in an old Queenslander? Mmmmm

When I point it up and bounce everything is 3-4 stops under exposed :(

i don't know about your flash, but mine has full swivel and tilt. when i don't have a good ceiling, i'll try bouncing it off a wall (it makes for some very cool sidelighting). you might also want to play with flash compensation, if your camera and/or flash supports it. as much as i love my lsII, i'll admit it doesn't work in 100% of the situations i've tried it. keep experimenting, and you'll figure out how to get the most out of it; i truly can't live without mine...

;-)

Yeah I just gotta get used to it, the SB800 tilts, swivels and will even make you a hot cuppa for morning tea lol.

I have been able to take some test shots with just the slightest shadow line visable. Much better than I would otherwise get with a single light.

I recently purchased 3 of these for fellow canadians who were concerned about the cost of shipping these to Canada, what with Brokerage fees and taxes, and had them shipped to the UPS Store in Ogdensburg NY where I picked them up.

Once I got them I noticed that they had sent only one CD, so I sent an email to them asking for 2 more CD's. What a pleasant surprise I got when I received an answer to my query within 10 minutes, and they were kind enough to forward them direct to the purchasers, who are located in different provinces in Canada.

This type of Client Services is such that I will actively recommend this distributor to fellow DPCers and friends alike.

Only thing I don't like is that it doesn't fit very snug on my sb800. I've been shooting a lot for my daughters ballet studio and have had it fall off a few times, which was a little embarassing - kinda made me feel like a hack. Anyone else have similar issues / solutions?

maybe a little scotch tape, its clear and not really noticable,

Push the Lightsphere all the way down (With the dome off) so that you can reach the top of the flash head, then wrap a chunky rubber band around the top of the flash and pull the Lighsphere back up so that it rests just barely under it. Should keep it from flying off completely. As for the dome I use medical tape to keep it on. :)

I had a shoot this past weekend that was supposed to be an outdoor in the blooming garden shoot - however when it started to pour rain at the very beginning... they opted to move inside rather than reschedule. I had NO lighting on me but a flash, the Lightsphere, ambient tungsten bulbs and a reflector - and SIX wiggly kids to shoot in cramped quarters, no backdrops and a house that was filled with moving boxes and furniture.

I don't think it did too badly - all these were taken with nothing but ambient light and the lighsphere bounced either to the wall behind me or to the cieling.

You can now officially buy one of these in Canada without all the 'extra' charges. I don't understand the exchange rates but I saw where canadians would have to pay an arm and leg to get one of these lightspheres.

Anyhow they are now available in canada at this website!

Hope this helps! :)
