OK. I'm starting my own very small business of taking photos for people. It's just something to help pay for the equipment right now, but who knows where it will go. So, my dilemma now is what to call the company. With that in mind, I figured I would take a poll from all of you brilliant-minded people out there to see what you would call it.

Here's what I have to work with:

Name: Scott Cooley
Location: Smithfield, UT, Cache Valley, Logan
Better areas of photography: Landscape

Now, I could go with something generic, like Scott Cooley Photography, or something that I used to think of called Take One Photography, but I would like to see if I can get some ideas from the rest of you, and see if something jumps out at you. If it does, I suppose I could do one of those gift memberships for you as an incentive to participate.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Oh, and a couple of things to add:

I am mostly trying to get in to the engagement, family, senior portrait area for now.

So you've got great Landscapes, and intend to do potraits. You gonna be an all-rounder then you name has got to show it, or at least dont let it sound specific to only one of those (unless you intend to specialize)

How about: Cool(ey) Studios

Actually calling it as it is: Cooley Photography
is a good idea too - it's direct, it's sell-able

I think Utah is the same as Idaho. If your name is the business name, you don't have to file an ABN (assumed business name). You might want to consider an LLC to protect your assets from any liability associated with any actions brought by someone against the business. They could get your camera but you might save your house. Just an idea- I agree with the others- Scott Cooley Photography.

Cool E Photography comes to mind first - the thing you want to keep in mind is you want it to be memorable - easy to spell, and not so long that no one wants to type in your url.
Prints Charming is delightful
Can you imagine that phone message? "Thank you for calling Prints Charming, how may I help you?" or "You have reached prints charming - what can I do for you today?"
hmmmm... I will ask my brother in law - he came up with my name - and it ROCKS! Good luck and have fun! Jenn

"I went on DPC to get name suggestions and all I got was this crappy title"

If you stick a dot com on the end, it has a certain ring to it.

Not to sound like a weiner but
A click in time....
I like Fusion Photography even though it may not have anything to do with your work
I named my business a few years ago and its generic and I may soon change it but its starting to take off
In my area there are a lot of younger people who will go with things with hip names i dont know why?
but best of luck to you.
