And based on your old screen name, creativity starts with "s?" That's some creative spelling.

I thought all SC had "Smite" as a middle name, by regulation?

I used to be the anti-nickname.

I worked at a couple of places and people were always trying to come up with nicknames for me. Never really worked too well.

Special K (not the most positive one...)
K-Dawg
Killer K
K-spaz
Bizzarro K (they actually chipped in and paid the 5 dollars to get me a personalized PetroCanada ID badge with that one... automated processes)
K-ziggity
K Man

None of them lasted more than a few hours.

I had an unfortunate incident in Grade 8 on my first day at junior high where my teacher called roll call and asked if Karen Earl was there. Of course, I couldn't decide if I should raise my hand or not... So she called again. Fortunately, the Anti-Nickname came in handy and it too didn't last for more than a few hours.

Earlier, in grade 7, I had a French teacher in French Immersion, who was actually from France (in the west of Canada, oddly enough, French Immersion classes are not generally taught by French-Canadians, but by Parisians). She had a tough time with my name and the closest pronunciation she could come up with was Urine. *sigh*

School really sucked for me.

alfresco = something taking place outdoors
alfresco = fatpolackwhopaint'shisfacewhite
alfresco = insect repellent / skin moisturizer

so as you can see, I really didn't have a choice in the matter :(

Had I used idnic's scheme:

pj = jp = pj = jp

Shamrock was my college nickname, both because of my Irish heritage and because i seem to have odd runs of good luck. 69, because it is the year i was born and just plain "shamrock" is usually taken.

My nickname is Woody. My last name is Wouthuis, which is Dutch for WoodHouse. One time someone tried to say my last name and someone else said to just say WoodHouse because it's easier. Someone else said Woody is easier yet. I instantly hated it and protested (too muhch) because of the Woody character on the TV show Cheers. Of course, it stuck.

After 15 years, I've finally got used to it and even like it.

Trying to get Woody for an internet handle is imposible, so I went with sort of a Dutch version of woody, thus woutje!

Hey! I used to play an online game with a Woutje! Didn't know what it meant. One more word to add to my Dutch vocabulary! :)

I thought karmat was sponsored by tamrac bag manufacturer, guess I was wrong. Mine is from my physical therapist. Guðrún Gísladóttir is a mouthful for them, and I discovered they always wrote GuGi in the appointment book. One day when I arrived, the secretary called , "Hey, GuGi is here" and then she blushed something awful. :-)

Gary Murakami = "Gary Murakami"

Wish I had some of Alan's creativity - looks like he's got plenty to spare from the photos.

I'm looking for a good screen name, something better than "Gary Gorilla" of "Garilla" that my sisters tried to stick on me. :-) I'll stick out my neck, and ask, "Any (good/funny/...) suggestions?"

My name is simply the Beatles song. On other sites I am known as Whopumped ( Who pumped? ) When I was registering for this site I though it was a serious site and shouldn't use something silly. Wish I had now. If you are from Scotland or surounds you will understand whopumped, if you are not I'm not sure you will!

sometimes I wonder if I should change my name to "smartass"

nah too many people already know to associate "rex" to "smartass" anyway.

I wanted to make email address with name 'xsara' but it was already taken, so settled with 'zxaar', pronounced similar to czar. I have the same name on lot of forums.

I have another nicky 'zynonyz' which is same backwards and forwards.

When I was in school for programming, 7 years ago, they assigned us "user" names (for their computer labs) based on your initials and what class you were in, thus kds (my initials) and prog (for programming). I thought it was really easy to use and have been using it since. Also, it's never taken!

Hell, I thought "rex" was just a euphamism for smartass. I know I've been using that way.

I started reading this just to keep up with some threads and then noticed the Vogelsang name and got a weird feeling. I'm reading Philip K Dick's Ubik and one of the minor characters in there is Vogelsang if I remember it correctly.
