I have a ton of photos from 2002, but EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was re-sized by myself.

I didn't keep a single original.

unbelievable.

Broke out the shovel and dug through my archives.
Sheesh - what a packrat - originals dating back to Jan 2000.

It's funny that the speed challenge e-mail says 'happy shooting'.

I'm in, but I had to use Apr 1st as the date in order to get it uploaded for now. I have a feeling that this is going to be a trick--it must be taken in 2002, but yet you must tell them it was taken today to enter.

I hope that's not true, because I just spent 2+ hours rediting an old shot!

I'm in! Entry No. 23. 2 hours to edit a bad image but I hope I've produced a worthy image. Damn 1 megapixel cameras! LOL!

I am going to have to break into my mini cds from that year. I purchased my first digital (Sony Mavica cd200 I believe) because it burned pics to mini cd and I didn't have cd burner on my computer. Havent looked at these pics in quite some time. This should be fun.

I just uploaded mine, had some fun looking through all those old images. Can you be DQ if your camera isn't on the list to select??
04/01/2006 05:28:22 AM · #113
Use the contact us link to request the camera be added :)

OK, here's a question - I had a Canon point and shoot that maybe I got in 2002 (don't remember, but will check) but I know I didn't have Photoshop and I'm pretty darn sure I edited all the pictures and saved the edits, NOT the originals. If the edits still have exif embedded somehow, will these count?

Not sure, but I think your exif data will be gone as soon as you edited it unfortunately.

I have this amazing birth photo from 2002. Someone told me it wasn't all that unique though because there is one of these born every minute.

Perhaps everyone should take some time to look at the challenge history...

I have pictures from 2002 but all the dates say "1774" - crap! That's before I knew how to change the date. LOL. And they're all crappy, crappy, crappy anyway.

I'm in! Was able to find a photo taken with my first digital camera - kodak DC-260 with a whopping 1.5MP sensor!

I loved that camera so much and I always thought the image quality was the greatest. It's crazy how things change...

I still remember me telling somone that bought a 2.1MP camera that 1.5 to 2.1 isn't worth the upgrade becasue you can't see the difference. I then bought the 6.3MP rebel and the word when that was first on the market was that 6.3MP is only benefitting people that need to print large posters.

I then upgraded to the 20D with over 8MP. A friend of mine with a Nikon D70 told me then that the difference is too little to be noticed unless you are going to print big posters... other than that you can't tell the difference...

When I bought the 5D I read reviews that stated that the difference from 8.3 and up isn't really that big and unless you're going to print big posters... but not really any noticeable difference.

BUT the difference from 1.5 to 12.8 is somehow still there although you apparently couldn't tell the difference between any of the upgrades AND I'm still not printing large posters! :)

Had to look real hard but found a shot from 2002 with exif intact. AND it happens to be one of my favorites from that time and camera.

As stated above the date had to be April 1st when submitting. Does this mean it is all an April Fools joke and we will all be DQ'ed?
04/01/2006 09:05:46 AM · #125
As a reminder, falsifying EXIF info results in very, very bad things happening to your ability to continue to participate on DPC.

The word Ban comes to mind.

So please, remember that this is a virtual contest and it is not worth a site ban to participate in a speed challenge ON APRIL 1ST.

Again, EXIF tampering is NEVER permitted under any special rule set. Ever.

Okay, back to trying to find a 2002 shot. :)
