My desolation pic did very well, and I'm very happy with my selection, but I agonized very much as to if I should have entered the colour version of the photo. Would it have done as well? Could it have done better?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

I definitely prefer the colour version... but only if you desaturate the greens a bit!! I gave the original a 7, I would give the colour version an 8

Conversly, I prefer the non-colour version, but might be swayed if the green was desatuarated as bobster said.

I like the color version version better, i don't think desolation has to be b/w.

Your choice to enter with your B&W photo was a wise one IMO. They're both wonderful pictures, and the color one shows all the graffiti, but for me, the color one was "safer" and brighter, meaning, it didn't look quite so desolate. When I saw the B&W version, I thought, "Never in a million years would I be caught walking around THAT neighborhood!" The foreground of your B&W picture looked like a battle zone, because the things on the ground were unidentifiable, while the color picture showed what was actually there...like the green grass. I don't know how I missed yours, but I would have given it a 10. Any picture that can give me the creapy crawlies when I look at it, deserves a 10! Great picture!!!

I gave the the B&W a 10. Prob a 9 for the colour one. The B&W just makes it look better. (IMO)

Thanks for the comments.

The "creepy crawlies" was definitely the LOOK I was going for. I thought the B/W version presented that a little better, although I really liked the colour version. You're right about the green, though. I'll make that mod for the print version (not that anyone would want to buy such a desolate scene to hang in their living room, LOL)

Thanks again.

The color version took me by surprise. I didn't even recognize it. I must say, I think it has more character.

I prefer the b&w one. I gave you an "8" on that one. Color one would get a "5". Original one has the feeling of desolation. The color one feels like I'm at the circus. Colors are to vibrant for desolation.
