After a foundation year at the Liverpool University of Hope my daughter Rose embarked on a 3 year degree in Jewellery design.

Before her degree started she fell ill and was diagnosed as having epilepsy and tests proved she had a grade2 brain tumour.

Blah, blah ... after 3 years very hard work today Rose was told today she will recieve a 2:2

4 weeks ago Rose had a Grand Mal and was admitted to hospital, on the 12th June Rose had a 7 hour operation to remove (some) of the tumour and after just 3 days she was allowed home, we were all very happy that Rose has pulled through so well.

The above is the good news. The histology was not so good, the tumour is now a grade IV (GlioBlastoma Mulitiforme) and Rose has been given (maybe) 18 months to live!

So, my question, why Rose? she is young, just finished University, recently engaged to be married and my baby.

I'm not a religious guy, Rose and her mum are Catholic. Prayers from around the world helped her come through the operation and I'm hoping prayer will help her through these last months.

Sorry for going on,

Andi, my heart goes out to you. Why? That is the toughest question in life. I wish there was an answer for you, not that it would change the situation. I pray your daughter will not have to suffer much pain and can live each moment of every day she has left to the fullest. Hugs to you all (with tears in my eyes)

My prayers are being said as you read this. I took this shot of the roses today.
Roses are my favorites, always.

Andi, I have sit here since you posted the thread and wondered what I could say to you and your family to make things a little easier. I have already said a prayer for Rose, your family, and You. And I will continue to do so for my Lord knows all situations.

Andi may I offer you a suggestion and please don't take offense. You mentioned in your post that you are not religious but Rose and her mum are Catholic. I assume and hope there is a bible in your home and if there is get it and start reading. Have faith yourself as the head of your household and pray with us that Rose will not suffer and God will spare her by the healing power of the blood of Jesus Christ.

NOTE: if my post upset anyone PLEASE do not take it out in Andi's thread. Rose, his family and himself needs our support. If I have offended anyone don't lash out in this thread. If you feel you have to lash at my post you can PM me. Lets all come together and pray for Rose.

Hey Andi, I know someone who had a similar glioblastoma diagnosis, had a couple of surgeries and has managed to beat the odds for what, 14 years or so (I last heard from a close friend of hers.) May Rose have be blessed with a similar outcome. Hugs to you.

Andi, my heart sunk while reading this. My thoughts, heart and positive energy go out to you and your family and especially to Rose. I can't even begin to know how you're feeling right now or how you're daughter is coping. I wouldn't now where to start in finding the answer to that question, but I'd be asking it myself if I were in your shoes. Sometimes, life takes us on different journeys and I think the only way I'd be able to get through something like this is to just believe that there was a higher purpose for my loved one, that their positive light was needed elsewhere and to know that even if they weren't there with me, they were still VERY MUCH with me and always would be. But I'd still be mad as heck about it nonetheless.

Cherish the moments. Good advice for every one one of us for every day of our lives. Cherish the moments...

I'm so sorry.

Hugs and positive thoughts from me too Andi.

I don't know why either....just know that you have to try and not dwell on the future, your sadness will overwhelm you, affect how you are with Rose. Go places with her, do silly things, take photos, laugh, make memories for you both.

Miracles do happen........I'll pray for one.

That's just plain tough, Andi. I'll send some prayers your way. A friend of mine suffered the same diagnosis and is still with us and apparently healthy some 10 years later, so it is not entirely without hope, of course. Hold onto that, and cherish whatever time you have remaining with Rose, friend.

Geez Andi.
I just tried to put myself in your shoes, with my own daughter in that position, and damn if I am at a loss for words.
All I can offer is a *hug* to both of you, and add to the collective enegy here by keeping her close at heart.

If only there were words to say that would bring comfort to you and your family. You say you're not a religious man but asking for prayer is an act of faith in itself.

My prayer is that you and your family be surrounded by Gods incredible love during this devistating time. God can and does do miracles everyday. Only He knows when its Rose's time to go.

I'm so sorry.

Keep the Faith - My thoughts and prayers with you and your family

I believe everyone exists for a purpose and when they accomplish that they are rewarded, although it often feels like a punishment to those who are left behind. I hope your daughter has many many years left to find her purpose. She sounds like she has so much ahead of her to look forward to. I hope the best for you and your family. I believe in the power of positive thinking.

Everyone does have a purpose, and I'll pray for your Rose, and for you.. I could not imagine what I would feel if my beautiful daughter fell under the same condition. I'm sure I would feel confused and question this life and my God too. Have faith Andi, and be strong for your daughter.

I am deeply touched by your story, Andi. I hope you and your family make the most of every second you have with Rose -- advice we all forget about sometimes with our children, but a tragic situation really opens our eyes to how quickly our time with them could pass by.

I can't answer to the why, but I can say don't give up hope. Sometimes doctors are wrong and sometimes, just the power of everyones prayers can do miracles. **Hugs** to you and your family.
