Two weeks ago I had an exhibition opening in Batumi, Georgia entitled "Three Worlds". The 50 photos were exposed for over a week.

You can enjoy the photos here

The opening was seriously delightful. Had a ton of interviews, which actually weren't all that fun but it was an interesting experience to see all these people try to analyze my pics. I loved some of the comments I got, it's even more amusing to hear them in real life face to face with the persons. This one Russian art critic, a woman in her thirties who was visiting a friend in Georgia, asked me a very intriguing question: "You are a beautiful and young girl of 15, so tell me why do your works reflect so much pessimism and the harsh realities of life?"

To be honest I'd never realized that my photographs reflected pessimism and the harsh realities of life. Bah.

What shocked me more was that there were people taking pictures my photos with their telephone cameras. I found that very disturbing.

What was even more fun actually was getting to skip school to go to Georgia. Hehe.

The title Three Words stands for the three parts of the exhibition. The first part depicting shots I took in Georgia, the second shots from Turkey and the third part gathers pieces from my various shoots and portraits.

The poster and the invitations were the genius designs of Mehmet Turgut .

Yeah I'm boasting the hell out of this :P

I was kinda shocked, most of the questions I got were very similar to what I get on DA or any other internet site "OMGZ, so great! Did you use Totoshap? (aka photoshop)".

I told her that I wasn't specifically looking to make my pictures appear pessimistic. The subject has a big influence on that feel of the image, and since I don't shoot flowers, birds and lanscapes, the pictures are a little close to home. You recognize a face, a feeling and it becomes personal, and most of the time personal either means sexual or pessimistic. I also added that it could depend on the mood of the person. I mean there were 50 shots there, and some of them were actually pretty funny and joyous (a kid checking his penis under his bathing suit, a couple kissing, etc.). I think in the end you see what you want to see (I don't remember if I told her that, but I should've).

I talked a lot with her actually, I said a lot more, but I think this is what my translator translated roughly. My russian ain't enough to ramble on like this :P
