Yes, I have been one of the latest victims of the South African crime. Bastards broke into my house while my pregnant wife was sleeping in the room next to my computer room and YES, THEY HAVE STOLEN MY REBEL XT WITH CAMERA BAG, 300MM SIGMA lens, SPARE BATTERY - EVERYTHING. All I have left of my photography days is my tri-pod.
That sucks.

AY!
I am so sorry to hear that!

Remember... it is better to have shot, and lost - than to never have shot at all.

Haaaa. oh lord, I'm cheesy.
Anyhow, sorry for the loss :[

Bastards! Hope your wife is ok? (i'm sure you're both pretty shaken up!).
Reading this has made me quickly take a walk and fetch my bag out of my bakkie..., funny, was thinking about what it would be like to have all my equipment stolen last night, and how i read about a guy who was so scared of this he'd hide components all over the house so that if they did take something it would hopefully not be everything.

Hope the wife is okay and not too shaken up.

very sorry to hear about the loss of your camera and equipment. be thankful, though, that they didn't take your pregnant wife and leave the camera. cameras can be replaced.

ok, but it might be awhile - I have to swing by Australia and drop Leroy off at Judi's.

Any clues as to the Purple Traitors?

Adding insult to injury. ;-)

ETA: Then again, if he had a Nikon in the first place, the robbers may not have bothered to take it. ;-P

i'm so sorry to hear about the break in. when it comes right down to it, you're all ok, and cameras are just stuff.

when i was in botswana, they took my k1000, my LEICA, my minolta, lenses, metres, the lot. i think the thing that smarted the most was that, as i was in rural botswana, there was a pretty good chance no-one would know what the leica was.

as i wasn't insured, for many years i shot well composed snapshots with a little point and shoot.

i'm insured now...

That really sucks, though with the way crime is down here you could have lost things much more valuable than just your camera gear which is replaceable. Hopefully your insurance covers everything.
