Our daughter brought up a good point - can we get age/gender list of the young ones attending? (she also suggested everyone brings a bunch of model release forms & we all take pics of each other's children - that way we suddenly have a bunch of new models for our business...) kid's too smart for her own good!

I have to echo what jaxed said, "Good luck getting them to sit still long enough to get a photo of 'em" :-)

we're definately interested... it would be me, my wife, and 3 yr old son and we'd be interested in spliting a 3 bedroom cabin w/ any of the other families with young kids...

Huh... looks interesting! Found this info:

Rock Island State Park

Map from FCF to RI

Map shows about 35 miles between Fall Creek Falls & Rock Island - maaaaaybe I'll have time to swing through there on the scouting trip. Come to think of it, does anyone already have pics of either state park (especially facilities, camping areas, etc.)

This is shaping up to be one heck of a GTG!!!

Ifn we're indeed able to make it and ifn da kids come along, our shy son will be 5 and our outgoing daughter will be 2. Well, they'll be those ages regardless of whether they are along or not...

Not sure how this would affect campfires, etc., but just to make everyone aware...

Nothing worse than a party getting busted up... :)

My personal teetotalling has nothing to do with this post, so don't misunderstand. Ya drinkin' is ya own bizness, long'z ye don't git ME throwed in jell.

:)

Glenda & I were talking about the alchohol thing last night... it is a little ambiguous when explaining which parks, AND whether or not it's allowed inside the cabins. Lemme try to get an answer.

ETA - I just spoke with a reservation agent, and was told that 'so long as it isn't obviously an alchoholic beverage in public...' (drinkin outta Dixie cups; sounds like we might baaaarely keep from being locked up)

Oh yeah... the lady actually said "but you are a group of photographers, so we don't have to worry about you getting wild"

{{{my cheeks are H U R T I N G and my tongue is bleeding now}}}

Really, I'm sure we are all adults & everything will be just fine - don't figure any of us will be acting outrageous with our children there anyway...

Mandy,

Sounds like several will be sticking around Sunday as well - your welcome to visit then. Family is welcome too.

(It's okay, we're really only half this crazy in real life. Then again...)

Well Shelby's birthday is actually April 12th and then my son Nathans is the 15th. I would feel bad dragging them on a GTG because it would really be about me and not thier birthdays. You don't want my three running around...TRUST me! They are so loud, and my oldest thinks it is so funny to embarrass his mother infront of people.

Ummmm - NOT a good excuse Mandy lol...

(Telling us that your child likes to embarrass you only makes us curious) Besides, we'd feed him PLENTY of soda & chocolate!

No pressure - just know that you're welcome to join.

This is pretty thin! Don't you know that the purpose of children is to be loud and embarrass their parents in public? Besides that, we can all tell your children that this whole evolution is their birthday party.

With all the rug rats everyone's bringing, including me, the kids will probably have more fun that the adults...and will certainly do less work!

I hope you change your mind and can make it. And I hope for the rest of us life doesn't throw wrenches into our plans.

I talked to my wife yesterday and it seems like a go for me. Still early though. Lets say I'm at 75% going.

Looks like my other trip has been scheduled for the 22nd so this weekend is all clear. I'm 99% sure we'll be there, although I'm contemplating leaving our littlest one with grandma. Something about a curious 2 year old around rope bridges and tall waterfalls makes me nervous. :)

I just found out my wife has a conference in Nashville the last week in Feb. and it looks like i am going to tag along. So i am going to be looking for things to do and photos to take during the day while she is in her conf. If any of you have any ideas would love to hear them. pm me or post them here.

Visit the "Bat-building" if you are on that side of town. It is the BellSouth office there looks like Batman symbol. Also, make sure you go on a walk around the river... there are a million great places for pics round there and lots of old buildings :) Try, if you can, to get out to the Grand Old Opry mall (you will find plenty of camera candy there).

Or, go to the Tennessee visitors page and do a quick search on "things to see" near your location in Nashville... it is a pretty good sized city and you don't want to be running from one side to the other all day.

Hope this helps!

Put me down as a definite maybe for this... it looks like a lot of fun, and a really nice place to take some pics. And 390 miles on I-81 should let me set the cruise control and sleep. ;)

You should be able to find a lot of opportunities by following advice of TCGuru. There is also the Parthenon at Centennial Park which is on the west side of the city. There are scores of colleges and university campuses around that make for excellent photo ops. If you are willing to drive out of town a little way there are some very nice historical communities: Franklin (south of Nashville), Hermitage (east of Nashville and home of Andrew Jackson), and the list goes on.

Have fun!

Thanks AllgoodPics and TCguru. I will check out a coule of the things you have listed.
I will be staying at the Gaylord Optyland Hotel so i think that is close to the mall you are talking about. And the Parthenon sounds interesting.
The home of Andrew Jackson sounds neat if it isnt too far, i am not one that minds driving so if i have time i will check it out.
Thanks again and good luck on yout GTG

Yeehaw. We've got one of those, as well. The 2 year old, that is. Hmmm. Additional planning possibly necessary... :)
