I have had a few comments that suggest this photo deserved better. There must be a bunch of you that have been robbed. Let's see your MOST ROBBED photo's.

This is the only one where I truely feel I got robbed. Still one of my personal favs though.
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/624/thumb/457537.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/624/thumb/457537.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
Not a bad score, but I met the challenge more than most did.

Haha, I havn't felt very robbed on any of my past images but I have one in the free study right now that is making me cry because the score is so low when i thought it was a really great picture. Oh well haha

without a doubt this one in the motion blur challenge. it got hammered by DNMC but it clearly did meet the challenge
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/513/thumb/353328.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/513/thumb/353328.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

BTW here is the challenge description
Intentional motion blur is an effect that can be achieved by zooming on a stationary subject, panning a moving subject, using long exposure, etc. Search for subjects that will be enhanced by this treatment.

I bolded the importqant part.

What I want to know... is who are these people who consistantly give 1, 2, 3 and 4 votes? I've anytime I give a vote of 4 or 5 I ALWAYS type in a reason why I've given it a low scoring and/or a comment as to how I would have liked to have seen the image improved.

I really thought this would be a 6+

Most people know what I think was my most robbed image. If you don't know, just go sort my challenge entries by number of faves. It'll be the one with the most.

Blue Moon's and Surfinbird's are both VERY strong images IMO. I wouldn't have expected the "angry" boy to do much better than it did in here (ever notice we don't treat OOF images very well, even if it is intentional?), but for some reason I thought the baby shot would do very nicely, and I'm disappointed it didn't. What a compelling image!

Of my own recent entries, I'm disappointed in how this one fared:

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/618/thumb/454036.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/618/thumb/454036.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Particularly disturbing is the assertion by a number of commenters that I didn't use motion panning. Say what? Of COURSE motion panning was used, how else is the one bird nearly frozen? I used it differently than other people, but...

R.

I agree. simialr to my image (although substantialy more beautiful) using a technique in a different way doesn't mean it wasn't used and shouldn't be voted as such.

5.4? I think not. I guess I should have known better than to try a high key image.

I think a lot of people missed the spider in this picture. He is small. I still think this is the neatest picture I ever took, and still can't get over that I took it.

You got an average score by DPC standards. I like this picture a lot, the perspective is fantastic and B&W treatment is nice, but I can identify some possible reasons it did not score higher:

1-The border is HORRIBLE. It is too wide and draws attention from your fine subject and the black border even has haloing.

2-The mottled background adds little to the composition and again draws attention away from the subject.

3-The crop is bland. If you would have cropped off the right side, placed the subject close to the right side vertical rule of thirds line and had your subject leaning into the frame it would have added considerable interest to the composition.

4-The curl of hair on his forehead should have been left sharper. Most people would probably want to see that sharper. Overall, the filter treament will be liked by some voters moreso than others.

Correct those 4 things and this fine image would have scored a LOT higher. It is a terrific picture!

I have to agree... that is one awesome shot.

I was rather disappointed by the score on this one:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/597/thumb/436416.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/597/thumb/436416.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

I had hoped this one would have done better. Maybe I should have gone with a different title.

When I first saw this image, I was instantly reminded of a shot that in ways was very similar in feel, but your border really was a bit too much in my opinion, and takes away from the emotion that is emanating from it.

As a comparison

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/614/thumb/448162.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/614/thumb/448162.jpg', '/') + 1) . ' ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/16241/thumb/373334.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/16241/thumb/373334.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

The real bottom line here, is that if you can't imagine your own photograph done any better, and truly moves you in ways that many voters didn't feel, then that is all that matters really.

Please yourself first. Always!

I liked this one a lot and felt it should have scored a full point higher!

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/583/thumb/426443.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/583/thumb/426443.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

I felt that that deserved better

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/531/thumb/370885.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/531/thumb/370885.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
This one as well

I was really surprised this one didn't do better in the DPC Cinema challenge

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/560/thumb/401497.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/560/thumb/401497.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

This one wasn't purple enough for some for the Purple challenge. Still one of my favorite shots.

I really like this one. Obviously, it was too dark for some to see, but I still think it's perfect!

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/529/thumb/369856.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/529/thumb/369856.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Here's the one that puzzles me.

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/596/thumb/443382.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_challenge/596/thumb/443382.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

5.1 in the challenge, yet over 800 views since !! How does that work?

While we're at it how come none of those 800+ viewers have never left a comment ? Puzzles me . .

but then I do get easily puzzled :-)

Obviously I'm biased, but I thought this would score a bit higher than it did.

Scored high but still too low IMO.
