Is anybody interested in having a Chicago GTG in the near future?

I will be leaving Chicago by the end of April and moving back to Europe. I would love to have a day shooting around Chicago before I leave.

At the Wisconsin GTG last fall a few people suggested doing this sometime in the spring. I know it's not exactly spring like just yet, but it's a lot warmer than it has been.

Anyone interested?

Sometime weekend of Mar 31-Apr1 or Apr 7-8? We were thinking of the Minneapolis GTG, but Chicago is a lot closer!

Both dates would be great! I'll be up to my eyes in packing boxes, so it would be a welcome relief to get outside and do something fun.

Let's give this a bump early this evening and see if any other midwesterners are interested.

I'm going to give this a lunchtime bump in case anyone's online now.

I'm in Detroit, but might be able to make it to Chicago for a day or 2 ... I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what the exact dates end up being ...

I commute to Chicago (Schaumburg, actually) every week. With enough advanced notice, I guess I could stay over one weekend to join you folks.

I live in Kalamazoo, depending on the specific day/weather, alignment of the planets, I'd be up for a drive.

Looks like there's some interest. I have no strong preference for which weekend it is. We may make a family trip out of it and stay for a night. Anybody want to voice a strong preference for

Mar 31-Apr1 or
Apr 7-8

Saturday vs. Sunday? Daytime vs. evening?

My own bias is going to be for having some chances to shoot the skyline and lakeshore at night. Any Chicagoans please chime in with your favorite locations. I've shot from both Sears and JH, as well as from the Planetarium grounds. Always looking for other good locations.

i'm interested but can't say for sure until the week of the date...i'll keep checking back here as the details get worked out a bit more!

<-- Interested.

Sats work best for me, any/either weekend (drive Fri, photoplay Sat, drive Sun - the All American Weekend)

I likes the waterfront for good skylines and just ambling through the park district and or town to see what's aroond.

Put me in, coach!

Oh great - I'm so pleased to see so many folk interested.

Isn't the 8th Easter weekend? Maybe the weekend before would be better in case people have family commitments over the weekend.

All those locations make for great city shots. JH is always a good option, especially at dusk if the weather is good. You can also get some good views of the city from Navy Pier, although the Planetarium grounds are probably a bit better.

I'm in for whatever day the rest of you decide on, but i will need to know about 2 weeks in advance so i can call off work and get a sub (if it happens to fall on a Saturday).

LOL - I was JUST thinking about this yesterday. Thanks for the PM John!

I am game for any of the April dates, March may be a bit too cold still, not to mention nothing has come back to life by then anyway.

Lets keep the thread alive!

Chicago GTG 2007! Woo Hoo!

Waiting for the weather to break (too flippin cold to be taking pictures this time of year) but quietly watching from the sidelines.

Glad you missed me!

I could potentially come down next Saturday, April 7, but the weather forecast is miserable - high of 39F and possible rain and/or snow showers. Yuck!

I've never been to Chicago. So, I'm long overdue. If the gtg is somewhere easy to get to and I can pull off some magic...

Sorry - I got all caught up with my pending move (leaving the US on April 16th......) I forgot to come back and update the post.

I could do April 7th - the weather is so changeable right now, who only knows what it will be like on Saturday! Anyway, I'm still up for it if anybody else is interested.
