the lighting is nice, not sure what you were looking for.

I do also like the light and you have an interesting POV. Seems a bit soft and flat. I find the bushes and sky behind the statue to be somewhat distracting. (Copied from comment on the pict)

I like the composition, lighting and perspective. Little contrast tweek and removing the twigs that appear to be growing out if his head would make a big difference.

As a general rule of thumb you should not get closer to a sculpture more than the distance intended by the artist to view his work, if your goal was to do a good artistic photo of it.
However if you were looking to show the type or color of the rock that made the figure or the carving strokes, then this will be something else and you should do documental technical photography.
I think shooting statues for artistic photography is something dull, unless if they can be linked strongly to their surrounding to capture their impact rather than their shape.
