How long have you had it? If not long perhaps you can take it back and get the other version for about $50 more.

You get a lot of bang for the buck for the APO version and it does a great job up to 200mm and decent above that. What's really fantastic is the macro mode, which is in the 200-300mm range. Some of my best pictures have been taken with this lens.

If I had only a $200 budget for a lens, I would buy it again.

Examples from this last week I've taken these with it:

Thanks for all the help. Unless I see anything really horrible in the results, I'll probably live with it for now. I'd really rather not spend the extra at this stage because there are still other more expensive lenses I want - most importantly something in the 10-20mm range; also I was planning the Sigma 18-200mm OS for a walk-around lens, when it becomes available.

I've been pretty impressed with some of the macros I've seen with different variations of this lens, but I also tried adding on a clip-on macro converter and came up with this:
' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/2158/thumb/554366.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/2158/thumb/554366.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
So it looks like I won't have to rush out to buy a proper macro lens anytime soon, which is a big help to my budget anyway.
