I have tried to do some searches but it didn't really lead me anywhere. I also hope this is the right forum section for this question.

I was at a local book store yesterday and found some very interesting magazines: Practical Photography and another one called Digital Camera World. I really would like to subscribe to these but I found out that they are distributed in England and subscription to US would be very expensive. Right now I get Outdoor Photographer and Rangefinder magazines. Practical Photography seems very good for a howto type of magazine. Do you guys subscribe to any of these two magazines here in US? I would like to know how you get them and if there's a cheap way to get them.

And I suppose while we're on topic, do you have a recommendation for a good magazine that follows more of a howto format for someone who is learning?

Thanks!

Popular Photography has a lot of how to type articles. They seem to have something for everyone, people of all abilities that is.

Hey thanks everyone for your comments.

Kearock - could you please tell me how you got the Studio Photography and After Capture for free?

I also take it that no one here gets Practical Photography. That's too bad cause I thought that magazine was actually very informative. The individual issues are over $10. I guess I could go in every now and then and pick up an issue when I find things interesting.

Hey, codezion.
I asked a similar question a short time ago; check out this thread.

Use the links that Rex posted and sign up like you would for Rangefinder. List yourself as a Freelance Photographer if you're not part of a larger business.

I don't subscribe to it, but Prefix Photo is an incredible new Canadian photography magazine. It's more experimental than most, and focuses on photography as fine art rather than just being pretty pictures, but it's a very interesting read and pushes the boundaries of contemporary photography. It's also designed beautifully, which, as a graphic designer I find is like a breath of fresh air compared to many of the photo rags with shots crammed in with text and advertisements and little to no white space, and horrible typography. At $18 a copy, I don't buy it all the time.
