This (and the other World Traveller project) sound very much like an adult (??) version.

my nephew did the same project while I was stationed in Guantanamo Bay Cuba a number of years back, I put Stanley in a zip top bag and took him snorkeling and took pictures lol. I sent back images of the snorkely trip and from around the base and added some shells "he" had found. The whole class got a kick out of him in the bag snorkeling.

Are you concerned with the member actually living in the state they are photographing for? I ask because I'd be avaiable for Kentucky when I leave Japan in September but only for the first two weeks before I leave again and report to NC for my final 20 months. I'd be up for it if you need me.

Here is a list of the states we still need volunteers for:

Alaska -
Arkansas -
Hawaii -
Kentucky -
Maine -
Minnesota -
Montana -
Nebraska -
Nevada -
New Mexico -
North Dakota -
South Dakota -
West Virginia -
Wyoming -

Took away the states I have recently gotten volunteers for. Also changed the Texas one per kawesttex's request.

sabphoto I wouldn't mind it but timing it so it gets to you then will be hard so I will wait for someone to speak up.

Cape Cod is only marginally Massachusetts, it's its own state of mind :-) MA was snatched before I even saw this, but I'm dying to do ducky-in-the-marsh for this one, sigh...

Any need to decorate the ducky? Make it look like a "dpc duck?"

a blue ribbon "tattooed" on its chest. :P

How about hanging a blue ribbon from its bill and naming it scalvert?

I guess you're counting on me to take Alaska? Ok - you twisted my arm.

IF this project is actually going to take a few months to complete...

In November, I can cover Nebraska, Arkansas and Minnesota in addition to Louisiana. Not sure what your decision was about the person taking the photo being from that state. I am originally from Minnesota, does that count?

Bear if all goes well maybe we can do another one. I would like to do one with lots more people involved. Not just one per state. If this goes well we should do one with whoever wants to get involved and see how long it takes to make it around. Maybe even make a blog page for our Duck.

Ok I will give it a few more days for volunteers. If you neighbor one of these states and are pretty close then please let us know. If you are in for another state close by and wanna change then let me know as well. But only one user per state for now. I am off to buy a Duck.

I'm in MA, but I can cover Maine if nobody who lives there steps up to the plate. I'm there every few weeks - as far up as Bucksport and Bar Harbor sometimes.

LOL. Most likely swimming in Jordon Pond in front of the Bubble Mtns. while I'm stuffing my face, but yes! - somewhere out in those parts. :)

My only neighbor is Canada....I'll stick to just my own Alaska.

Is it gonna be some special rubber duck that's identifiable we have to use?
I might be able to do Minnesota. It's a 2-1/2 hr drive to the state line. The 1st week of Sept. I'll be camping within about 50 miles of Minnesota and I can take care of it then.

I think - if my thinking is right - Rex wants to have one specific ducky travel the U.S. for these pics.

Rex: how about doing the states in alphabetical order to ensure they all get covered?

You should try and ship to a neighboring state to cut down on shipping time (and ecological impact). Shipping it from Alabama to Alaska and then back to Arkansas doesn't make much sense to me except for the alphabeticity. You can establish the shipping order before you send it out the first time. You might also want to set a time limit for people to take their shot and pass the object along.

Yeah it is going to one user per state and I cannot schedule it. In other words don't tell me you will be in a certain state in 3 weeks cause I got no clue when you will get it. I am waiting to fill a few more states before I ship it on its way. Per ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/user_id/1031.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/user_id/1031.gif', '/') + 1) . ' GeneralE I decided to ship it the best route and this I think is the best route:

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/31606/thumb/563606.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/31606/thumb/563606.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

I went to buy a Rubber Duck today but the Party Shop that carries them is closed until tomorrow. And yes I tried Wal-Mart and Target neither carry them. Either way I will get a duck soon and ship it off hopefully within a week. I would like to fill up most states if not all before I start this. I am debating on a special Ducky like a Gene Simmons or James Dean one.
