Hello All,

I have PSE on my desktop computer, but just bought a laptop and can't find the CD for PSE to put it on my laptop. Does anyone know of a reasonably decent Free program I can download from the internet? I have no money right now to replace PSE.

Thanks!

^^ What they said.

Alternatively, you may be able to D/L the PSE trial from Adobe and activate it using your license key.

I downloaded Gimp, and it was too complicated. I don't want to take a month to learn a whole new program. Looked at IRfan, but didn't download it. Downloaded Picasa, and it seems pretty user-friendly, but I don't see how to manually change the contrast, which is something I do A LOT. Can I do that here?

Your CD is probably in a pocket of your carry case. (Mine was for PSE3, but I didn't find it until I had bought PSE5 after my computer crashed...)

Oh. Yes, I found GIMP too hard to get used to. I've use Irfanview for a long time, but not for processing images.

GIMP is really no harder than Photoshop, the menus are just laid out a little differently, that's all.

It really doesn't take more than a week to get used to.

My 2 cents or less: Picassa is a little heavy-handed. Irfanview is very basic and has the advantage of being lossless, which is good for the technically challenged and disorganized; you can play a lot with the contrasts, but it doesn't approach curves. (I try the Gimp from time to time; unfortunately I have to switch operating systems to do so, and I have a lousy/non existent filing system, but if I can get used to the menus I promise anyone can).

Why do you have to change operating systems to run Gimp?

~Terry (who now has to switch operating systems to run Photoshop)

Not sure. Not my computer really. (Hey, my cameras were gifts; I do not go boldly...) And were you serious about switching your OS? 'splain?

I run Linux -- but I was using GIMP under Windows as well. Does your computer run at least Windows 2000?

There is a prepackaged GIMP installer for Windows at //gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html which should install everything you need, as long as youŕe running Windows 2000 or higher.

Yes, at least. However there is a move afoot to switch almost entirely to Linux for everything, mostly because of the countless stupid things windows does. Will consult about getting the Gimp on windows, but many are the consultants and they all have their Ideas. Thanks for your input/help/suggestion.
