Interesting diagnosis! Albeit, probably more indicative of your own mindset than mine.

Seriously, dude this thread is 5 years old, you joined the site and basically called everyone that posted about it an idiot. I know the thing is big, but it's not something to get butthurt over. Don't bother responding, I have the option to ignore this thread.

Have fun getting all defensive about your favorite toy.

Again with the projecting? Seriously?
This transference thing you have going on here is rather transparent, you might want to watch your intonation it’s a rather embarrassing tell.

Yes it does, I know how much it helps to get feedback from people who actually do know as opposed to those who think they know. f8/f16 really isn't that bad if you click on the info box on the images I posted you can see the shooting info I was shooting at ISO 400 and for 1/125sec and 1/100sec so really how bad is it?

1/125th of a second at 1200MM? you better have an anchor tied to it, no wind and your subject bolted down.

I can respect that this is your opinion,
but it was not an idea,
or a plan,
or even something my friend's neighbor’s, uncle read about online,
it is the shooting info, for the image, that I personally took,…. oddly enough without an anchor, but thanks for the tip there MattOH!
Of course if you would like to actually know more, I would be glad to share anytime!

Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and let others believe you to stupid,
Than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

So are you offering me lessons, I'm sure I could use some from you looking at your portfolio, you should offer a course.

I wasn't offering you anything more than a reflection of your attitude, as for what you could learn from me,
well you could learn it yourself from life if you stopped thinking you already knew it all!

Really.

You should consider your own advice.

About you, I no longer have doubt.

How long will this go? It starts with necromancy, and moves to insults. It is not covering anyone in glory.

FFS.. You kids go outside and play in the /Rant section already.

As for experience in both realms, I can claim actual real experience with both L glass and Opteka glass.

Let me tell you this: for the $80 I paid for it, the 500mm Opteka lens was a pretty decent buy, granted at f/8 you needed to be shooting in daylight, and WOW the chromatic aberration... But it is a fine deal. They take pictures, the pictures are reasonably sharp, the supposed barrel distortion isn't there, etc, etc. Oh, and the build quality? The thing was AMAZINGLY well built, everything was tight and smooth as could be, felt damn near as sweet as my L glass. So, in that realm it was KILLER.

Now, compared to my (~20x more expensive) 100-400L IS, yeah, it's a pretty poor lens... Sharpness is great, contrast is very good, build quality is excellent, IS rocks, basically it's a sweet lens.. But, it's expensive isn't it? That's why I bought the Opteka first.

Here's some shots with the Opteka, I'd post some 100-400 shots, but you can just go to my profile if you want to see that sort of thing.

Remember, I never really tried to do anything very serious with this lens, if I had tried, I'm pretty sure I could have gotten some nice shots.

I thought this was Simms other alter ego. And I don't think local law will allow two of them to have memberships at the same time.
