Possibly with my in-laws. But if I stay in a hotel, I get a real bed and a swimming pool.....so I guess I haven't really hammered that part out yet.

I second this the more the merrier.

Mom looks just like she did when i found her Thursday evening, we took her off life support Sat evening and there is no change, Its hard to believe the body can live so long with no food or water.
we are going to have to move her to a different care unit tomorrow as medicare won't pay for her to be in a hospital any longer. So i may not be on line after then as i don't know it they will have wifi. I am sure going to miss it, it helps to pass the time as i am setting here with her.

I am sure looking forward to the gtg it will be a welcomed break after all this.

I checked Hotwire and they have some nice hotels downtown for between $55-$65. I'm checking a couple other similar sites as well.

Are you suggesting a DPC pool party?

It looks like I'll be able to make for 1 day at least!

Alright! More people! If you are looking for rooms you might check around the intersection of I-270 and I-55 (maybe off of Lindberg). It is pretty close to all the places we are looking at heading (10 minute drive to downtown) and might save a couple of bucks. I will update the attendee list and search for some hotels. I'll post back with links.

What is the group verdict on bringing models along? I have found a couple that are free on that date for Trade-for-Print/CD as well as a possible make-up-artist. I have not confirmed with them. Let me know as soon as possible.

I'm up for whatever.

Erin,
Are we talking about models for Saturday or Sunday?

Everyone else,
Who would be interested in doing a model shoot on Saturday?
Who would be interested in doing a model shoot on Sunday?
Do we want to schedule this at the levy, downtown, or one of the parks (Tower Grove)?

Who would not be interested in doing a model shoot at all?

Let's get this hatched out so we can let Erin get back to these folks.

Thanks,
-drew

ETA: just sent out some PM's with above questions. We've got 18 days to the 12th, so we need to get a few things ironed out so we can start confirming people, times, and places.

Models, wow! I'll admit to being intimidated by the prospect...but excited too! I guess my only concern would be that I don't have that much portrait experience. So I'm likely to be a bit nervous. Either day would work for me, though.

I'm not really interested in doing a model shoot, but an hour or two would be OK. Are we doing the zoo, Botanical Gardens, arch area? If so, which day?

I would like to get in on the model shoot. I'm not familiar with the levy, but downtown would provide a lot of settings.

I am indifferent about the model shoot, on one hand I don't have a whole lot of interest in it but do feel I could learn a thing or two. Either way I'm down but I will probably only make it to the Sunday GTG. As for location, I don't have a preference so I am game for anything. Trevor~

I'd be interested in a model shoot either day. I'd prefer to see the model shoots either be done on one day where the group that wants to do it can do that. Or integrated into either day where when an oppurtune time arises we can do it, otherwise we carry on the same schedule and others can either watch and learn or have something close by that they can do and then join back up with the group when the model shoot is over. Remember one thing, the botanical gardens is pretty but they also reserve the right to charge photography fees if they consider the model shoots as something that should be paid for. And if I remember right there fee is pretty high. Either way lets get this figured out so I can get things squared away and figure out my schedule.

I have never done a model portrait session before and would be excited to see how its done. I am pretty much open to whatever you come up with.
T

I like the idea of one day basic gtg to get to know everyone, then sunday doing the model shoot. so we will be more comfortable with each other to ask the questions we need to.
I am so looking forward to getting to meet you fellow photogs!

I just sent out another PM :-p

So check your inboxes for a short questionaire...you don't have to respond here, but rather a PM or email to me and I will tally up and post.

If you are watching this thread, thinking about joining us, and haven't yet posted, shoot me an email or PM and I will get some info to you.

I just talked a little with Erin and she said the "model shoot" will be more like "portrait opportunities". Basically she has rounded up a few folks to run around with us and more or less hang out, see the sights, and if you find a great spot that would work for a portrait, simply ask them to pose, direct them however, grab the shots and continue on.

I agree with Erin in that this should be a lot more laid-back and less intimidating for those that haven't worked with directing portraiture. It should be similar to previous suggestions that we just shoot ourselves and family members, but at least now we won't have people that are shy in front of the lens. And we don't have to worry about scheduling a set time for a "photoshoot", which was sounding pretty imtimidating and a little much for some of us!

So this changes a few things in the questionaire PM I sent out, but please still look at it and get back to me with answers, as best you can. If we have time to fit into the Arch/Riverfront/downtown day, and folks from Model Mayhem traveling with us, we will try to stop by Jason's spot and do some portrait work there. I am going to run by tonight or tomorrow to check the place out and snap some photos (I'll post them here).

I agree with the keeping it laid back. I will also be bringing hangarounds (12)(9), my nieces they love dress-up, and are gorgeous so ya'll feel free to work with them.

As for attending 1 or 2 days, I guess that really depends on how hard we party the first day. (hint)(hint)

May I suggest photographing Margaritiville Saturday night?
