May I? Just so happens that I took a bunch of macro shots today. All dressed up and nowhere to go - so I'm glad I found this thread.

Not edited. I had no time to shoot today. it started with an unhappy family GTG for one of my wife's uncles, and then a couple of hours work, and last, a great meal with some boating friends at my son's home. I just shot this when I got to my computer to have something to show for today's macro.

I'm finding everything I shoot is very soft, not sure why.

Use the unsharp filter on Photoshop if you have one. And then copy the layer two times. Make one "darken" and the other "lighten." change the transparency of those to layers. It will make it a lot sharper. I am sure there are nice tutorials online somewhere.

Thanks USM used, but I'm concerned about the shots from the camera being soft with the D300. Didn't seem to have the same problem with the D70s and the same lens.

I don't know a lot about this, but I've read that sometime lenses and cameras don't automatically autofocus perfectly together and you can have a focusing problem where it always seems to focus a couple centimeters in front or behind where you want it to. I think the D300 even has a section in the menu where you can program specific focusing corrections for your lenses. But again, I've only briefly read about this so I could have misunderstood.

Are you shooting in RAW?

Yes, I always shoot in RAW. I'm sure it's just getting used to the camera still and I was shooting at night with crappy lighting. It's a new day and there is a small amount of daylight (another grey day here).

Day 1 : Falling water drops

This was fun. I had a slight stream of water running from the faucet and just took a few shots. This was the best one.

Hello everyone! Can I join in the fun? I've been away from the computer for a week and did not see this side challenge being posted. While I don't promise to complete it because work is kinda crazy right now, I need to take pictures, especially because work is crazy. Keeps me sane and balanced!

So here it goes for Day 1:

Here is a square crop and a rectangular crop of the image. The original image posted was only resized not cropped. I think I like the rectangular crop better. I didn't want to lose any part of the flower in the background.

Welcome! Hope to see some nice Bahama macros afterwards.

Note: Why shouldn't we hate you? We're stuck here with rain, wind and even the cold is coming back! :-)
