Hey is this still going to happen? Our flight arrives in Wellington Sunday Morning. Alot of our stuff is already on the way there now. Should be interesting to see how many weeks it takes to arrive after we get there.

Looking forward to some Fish & Chips, Meat Pies and I am dying for a Turkish Kebab. Anyone know what time Abrakababra down in the Cuba Mall opens on Sundays?

Anyway, I will prob be snooping around for a Kiwi GTG in the Wellington Area once I am settled in so keep an eye out for me.

Yes it is. I am due to arrive in the last week in October. I will be speaking at the conference and teaching some workshops. After the event, I believe, that there will be a DPC GTG. I then fly to Auckland that week for a few days...so if anyone wants to get together during that time frame let me know.

lol, I have lived in Wisconsin all my life. Have also spent part of a winter in Wellington. I can honestly say that polar blast is actually what we view as a warm spring day in Wisconsin so I wont be too bothered. However it is going to be hard to walk away from the summer like weather we currently have this week knowing it is winter over there. I dont mind the cooler weather. But the rain is going to be a pain. Anyway. I will definately let you know when we are well rooted and we can hook up and shoot some pics. a trip up to Mt Victoria is always fun... I will be living in Island Bay for the first few months. What area are you in?

Lol I realised after I posted you are probably used to alot worse! It of course seems like the end of the world for us! However it is very windy not sure if you are used to that ;) I live in Lower Hutt which is about a 30 min drive from Island Bay....will wait to hear from you ;)

Oh I know. all my wifes friends and family email us daily with their complaints about freezing. Ofcourse my wife after living here for 10 years laughs and said they have no idea how lucky they are that it is actually not cold there. We do not get the wind like Wellington gets because they are getting hit from 3 sides all the time. But we do get some winds in the winter that will take the air right out of your lungs it is brutal cold you can not breath at all when it is hitting you in the face you have to turn your head one way or the other to get air, it is almost like swimming.

Oh, any details on the GTG yet. I'm keen to come down as my wife and I used to live in Wellington so we know some people and I'd hate to plan to leave before any GTG happened.

Keep me in the loop. I live an hour north of the city but work there. Depending on your plans I could join you too!

After 20+ hours on airplanes another 4 hours in airports I am now sitting in Wellington thinking the weather here needs improvement. Waiting for things to come to life around here so I can go downtown and hit the shops.

WELCOME :) Not nearly as bad today as it has been for the previous 3 days!
05/26/2009 03:06:38 AM · #45
thanks Joy, apart from the weather we are having a wonderful time catching up with family and friends and eating alot of foods that we have not had access to for over 3 years. We are going to Tepapa tomorrow with the kids to see the Giant Squid exibit. Have you been there to check it out, Everyone is saying the Video is actually better than the actual squid itself in which case I have already seen the video on TV back in the states. So i am basically going for the kids and squids sake. I will let ya know when I will have some free time for a little gtg....
