How else to score well on DPC? (I'm actually curious if Mine is found to be oversaturated, as I made effort to keep it colorful, but at realistic levels.)

ok i'll tell ya if i find yours oversaturated or not if you do the same on my shot (as soon as the challenge is over). ;)

mine seems to be getting hammered for beeing slightly different...

I noticed it as well. Maybe it's my personal taste in sunsets though. I like sunset photos to capture something close to what nature intended. It seems some people thought nature needed a little boost. Most of the images are wonderful and I voted higher on this challenge than my average.

...ouch...my eyes hurt now. Many seemed to give a bit more than a boost...but there were some beautiful, different and subtle images to be found...well worth the eye strain of wading through the not so subtle entries.

So far, it's been hanging in there. The trolls must not have woken up yet. ;-)

I have the complete opposite reaction; I'm surprised at how many relatively natural looking images there are. I expected a much higher proportion of supersaturated, hyper-processed shots.

I may be wrong but I do not remember any natural looking sunrise/sunset shots making a front page but I sure remember a lot of over saturated colorful shots. As I look through them I look to see if the shot appeals to me and vote accordingly rather than waiting to see others opinions in a thread. To me I feel we should hold these types of comments until after voting.

Good idea. I agree completely since my score seems to be in rapid decline.

This is probably around where I'll be hanging out now. I was teased by the possibility of the magic 6 for a while, however. (I probably didn't saturate my colors enough!)

I also am suffering from not over saturating I believe, and I am OK with that.

Mehh...

I was hoping for better and I'm getting constructive comments, but not necessarily suggestions I agree with. Oh well, a mediocre score with comments are better than low scores with no comments.

I guess that's setting.

There was a beautiful sunrise about 40 minutes ago, but I can only see a small part of the sky in that direction....
12/09/2008 04:15:00 AM · #46
Started off with a bang at 6.7512

Now the sun is setting slowly on my score as is to be expected I learned. Might rise back up to approximately the opening score I hope.
Lots of good comments.

In retrospect I think I erred in the processing. And it had nothing to do with saturation or lack thereof ;p Should have looked at it a bit longer after submitting!

Not unhappy with the results so far but I would change my processing now. This means we are always learning, right? :)
