I will be willing to take something in March, if South Africa in March counts!

lol Sandy, why wouldn't March count in SA? Actually thats a good point, our original idea for this book was to send a single CF card to dpc members in as many countries as possible but logistics/timelines made it too difficult, though an idea for 2010.

I think I've now replied to everybody that pm'd me (apologies for taking so long) and if you have pm'd myself or ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Talj and not had a reply nor been added to the 'list' feel free to pm me with strong words or belittle me here ;)

Thought I'd give this thread a little bump ;o) There is still plenty of time to join in!

We have 67 photographers signed up now, which is fantastic! Thank you to all who've added their names so far :o) Andi and I are working on the written content for the book and we're looking forward to seeing what you all come up with in March! :o)

Sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a shot.

Why don't we have HOPE as an Open Challenge running for the first 2 weeks of March? Any editting allowed to get the most entries.

Count me in. I won't be too upset if you choose to not use my input.

Good idea, mikeee. And thanks, talj, for the bump. This had already slipped my mind (like many things these days, it seems!).

Well, things are slowly coming together. Andi and I are yet to sit down together and make some decisions about the exact content, but, we have managed to secure a couple of great contributers to 'the book'.

We have one of the worlds leading Neuro-Oncologists from The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina writing the foreword to the book. They have a great motto "At Duke there is Hope", and I am really looking forward to seeing what he writes for our book! I am sure many of you will think 'so what?' but this is actually a very special thing for us and we were over the moon when he said yes!

I'll stop there as we don't want to give too much away about the content! ;o)

We're still looking for photographers so this little post can act as another friendly bump ;o)

Thanks Adam, I can't believe how quickly this has come around!

We're in the process of putting together some sample layouts for the book...will let you all know how things are going with them when I can!

As for a photo, I have no ideas yet, I'm hoping for some inspiration pretty soon as I only have the first week in March to shoot something!!

Anybody else got thoughts on what they might photograph?

Maybe I missed it, but are there any guidelines for the images with regards to:
-- file size
-- minumum number of pixels for length or width
-- file format (eg. jpg vs tiff vs other)
-- preference for landscape vs portrait orientation
-- etc

Hi Erik, thanks for the Q! Myself or Andi will post guidelines in this thread and add the to the opening post before next weekend

I can definitely say that landscape orientation would be preferable, but, we will accept both. If you submit a portrait shot It's likely to be smaller in the book than a landscape shot...does that make sense?

I am very sorry about the circumstances behind this venture, but I wish it all success. I would like to at least try to take something of worth, so i'll put myself up for it just in case I can.

Folks, where I live its almost March!

So, best get your thinking caps on and 'HOPE' you come up with a good idea :)

Heres a quote from one of the designer peeps,

Photos need to be a standard dimension, eg 10 x 8, 300 dpi, colour,

even if they will be black and White. Images to be tiff 16 bit, can be

landscape or portrait, a good mix of both, any quotes need to have the

file name of the image.

Am rubbish at aspect ratios but guess this means the image needs to be cropped at a 5*4 ratio and anything shot with a 6mb cam or better will fit the bill?

If ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Talj gives me a break from webmaster duties over at www.btbuddies.org.uk I'll create a site for 'the book' during March so hold on to your shots till further notice :)

I will give an image to the book.

AFAIK Langdon already emailed you the print-resolution image (still not that high) for my image; I can't locate the original for that one. However, you'll have to resize it, or add canvas around it to get it to those specs.

Mine is landscape-oriented -- if you have others like that, you may want to combine two-to-a-page, if the pages are portrait-oriented.
