Yeah, really!

That's what an administrative e-mail from DPC is all about, right?

Not to be taken seriously if they accuse you of having a ghost account.

I'm just an asshole for getting upset that they called me a cheater, right?

Perspective is all you need.

Not really.....

The last posts of mine were just me being a dickhead so I can play my own day late April Fool's prank.

Pretty tasteless, eh?

Oh, and Shannon, I didn't vote 'cause I don't care.

It does seem kinda rude though the way that some people were so easily condemned just 'cause their sense of humor doesn't stoop to this level.

Just a thought.......8>)

So instead of the daily vigil and continuous voting checks, you rather have only two or three of us thinking of voting irregularities for an hour, and then devote just the half day or so we've expended on hand-holding to enforcement? Interesting plan. It'd save time anyway...

I have no idea what the SC does. That's my problem, I guess. What I do know is there is some unusual voting behavior recently. More unusual than normal. I hope the SC can find time in their very busy day to check into the disruptions. I absolutely appreciate the time, energy, commitment and competence contributed by the SC to their tasks. Thanks! I'm on your side. The "streakers" are not!

And your qualifications and degrees to back up your assessment would be what, Doctor?

Oh, you're NOT a doctor????

Then shutup!

What?!

Are you kidding me? You must be pulling my chain....

If ANYTHING on DPC makes you lose sleep, you need to visit a Children's Hospital.

Does staying up late to get some star trail/northern light shots count? ;-)

Very mean-spirited; not funny at all. I submitted a good photo that I had spent a lot of time on; I took about 20 shots of the same view and about 75 shots on the garden I went to. I did minimal editing and was proud of my image. I spent a lot of time wondering what I had done wrong, reviewing my editing, submitted my original image, and lost sleep over it. An April Fool's joke is something you do to a friend or someone you have a personal relationship with and have a chance to laugh about with and plan a way to fool them back. Coming from an official source with rules & penalties for not following the rules is inappropriate. What if the IRS sent you a notice that you owed back taxes & penalties? Do you think that would be funny, even though it was sent on April Fool's Day? I noticed that some participants did enjoy the "joke", well, good for them, but they are in the minority. In spite of my efforts I have not had a lot of good ratings. This was a blow to my confidence. I think the individual who was responsible should be "disqualified" from judging.

Hi friend. The IRS is not a game. DPC is, and whatever effort you put into your entry should be for fun and the experience of the photo itself. If you can't handle a DQ (fake or real), you're taking it WAYYY too seriously.

As of this post, 159/365 (43%) found it Hilarious. 36/365 (10%) found it Inappropriate or Not Funny. The rest were neutral or expected it.

I'm not tying to start a spat here ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' NikonJeb, but didn't you just have a post ranting about how tired you are of the negativity around here? You're in here telling people to shut up, comparing people joking around about the phrase
It is only funny until somebody loses an eye!!! to Kill em all, let god sort them out. You're obviously upset but maybe stepping away from the keys for a bit might help instead of fueling that negativity thing you were typing about a day or so ago.

edit spelling

My income is based on the results of my DPC entries. When I do well, my Crazy Uncle Hal gives me tens of thousands of dollars. Hundreds of thousands if I get a ribbon. When I don't do well he eats one of my children. Well...

I got my DQ notice and Crazy Uncle Hal ate one of my children. It's too late to get my daughter back, which is very sad for us. But the good news is, Crazy Uncle Hal is giving me hundreds of thousands of dollars to ease his conscience.

My Crazy Uncle Hal said he'd have his revenge on Langdon.

I couldn't agree more with ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/user_id/17203.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/user_id/17203.gif', '/') + 1) . ' scalvert here. Really what DPC as far as a photo contest goes, boils down to a "just for fun" contest where the grand prize is a little gif image of a ribbon in your profile and bragging rights. I really dont get all the hostility over this... I myself get worked up over certain things in my life but not this.

i originally said eh in the poll, but i changed my vote to hilarious after reading this thread. i'm still pretty new to the site, so maybe i haven't reached the bitter stage yet. how long is it till i start getting upset about my bad scores and taking things way too seriously?

OMG, Can't believe the reaction here!!!

The best part of a "good" April Fool's joke is getting the reaction from the suckers who fell for it. Obviously this was a "good" joke based on the reaction it received.

Thanks DPC for a great joke!!! and thanks to all those complainers!!.... your reaction is making the joke even better.

That might be the mid stage ;) If you survive the climb up the hill, once you're here long enough you relax again hehe.

i see.. so either after my first brown ribbon, next april fools day, or somewhere between now and being here long enough to let things roll off my back... i really don't think i'll lose the optimism and good feelings about the site though.

when i got the DQ email, at first i thought i got a comment on a pic, so i got excited. then i noticed i was DQ'd so i was confused, then i logged in and saw my pic was still there and laughed. pretty much the perfect april fools prank.

When I was a freshman in college one of our group was a pretty avid cyclist even though he was an "older guy" -- when he was celebrating his 25th birthday we were getting on his case about being over the hill ... "Yeah," he said, "but one thing about being over the hill -- you get to coast all the way down."
